Chris Matthew thought he could corner Senator Elizabeth Warren into providing a video clip to hang her with later. He failed miserably as the Senator completely outsmarted and outlasted the direction he attempted to steer the interview.

(7,277 posts)It a GOP soundbite. Why Democrats have to be more honest that the Republicans is beyond me. Warren has the skills to talk her way around it without sounding too shifty. Most do not.
EDIT: Taking Warren down on health care is VP Biden's job. We will see, soon enough, if he is up to it.

(15,265 posts)We are operating under a draconian deficit creating corporate tax cut designed to starve the beast and break the budget to force cuts in social programs.
The wealthy use as as their donor class .
It is time to implement a sane progressive tax plan that pays for the cost of government and put the needs and well being of the people at the top of the list rather then the bottom..

(48,975 posts)whether taxes will have to be raised to pay for a program. It's something that voters as well as lawmakers care about, and we should be able to answer that question, and in a way that makes it clear the pluses outweigh the minuses.

It's all open to negotiation.

has to cop to that. If another candidate doesnt get her on this, Republicans certainly will.

She/he should realize that he is not helping his/her currently chosen candidate by doing so, especially among those of us who have yet to decide upon any candidate from among several options that currently look better than his own.

(6,181 posts)So if its taxes .. my bank account.
Our food.. my bank account.
Healthcare.. my bank account.
So if my heathcare costs are reduced with Medicare for All
because my co-pays are reduced, my drug costs are reduced, my dental care is NOW covered, and eyecare is NOW covered.
Then dental care, eyecare, cheaper drugs, cheaper co-pays or no co-pays reduces the reduction of the money drawn from my bank account.
Even if I pay more in my taxes but the offsetting of the savings with Medicare for All leaves my bank account balance HIGHER at the end of the year.
I AM AHEAD. EACH YEAR .
I DON'T CARE WHAT THE EXPENSE IS CALLED TAX OR HEALTHCARE BENEFIT.
IF MY HEALTHCARE IS MORE COMPREHENSIVE AND MY BANK ACCOUNT IS HIGHER. THAT IS A WIN WIN.

(15,286 posts)Today, you can have health insurance without it covering actual health care. Warren made the point that many Americans, who had health insurance, went bankrupt because that insurance didn't cover their medical costs.
If you ever watched the show "Undercover Boss", did you notice that the employees who encountered the "undercover boss" often shared stories about health issues (their own or a family member) and how they were struggling to pay the bills because of it? At the end, the "boss" would reward them with something that would help them pay the bills. There are also non-US versions of "Undercover Boss". I watched a few that involved Canadian companies. Not once did I hear a story from an employee sho was overwhelmed by medical bills and needed help (because they have a national health care system). At the end of the show, the reward was usually a nice, all-expenses paid vacation somewhere or other such goodie.
