E Warren Appreciation Thread: "We are the Democrats."

"We are not about trying to take away health care from anyone."

Thank you for that, Senator Warren. Some people need reminding of exactly what our party is about and the big ideas that we've fought for and put into practice for generations.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Here's the link

Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) distinguished themselves during Tuesday night’s Democratic Party presidential primary debate in Detroit, pulling away from the pack. Nobody else broke through. Sanders and Warren both know what they believe and they can express it without appearing phony, rehearsed or synthetic. They stood apart from the other candidates on the stage: From one to 10, here’s how the competitors emerged from the first of two nights of debates on CNN:

(my summary)
1. Elizabeth Warren - "the best natural candidate in the field"
2. Bernie Sanders - actually well spoken
3. Mayor Pete - thoughtful and well organized, but he's not it
4. Amy Klobuchar - consistently in the weeds
5. Beto - we are not in Texas anymore
6-9 (who cares)
10. Marianne Williamson (She spoke a lot of words, but she said nothing)

It's unclear to me what you're driving at, but I can tell you that I have yet to hear her call the Democratic party "feeble" or "corrupt". She has never suggested that there's no difference between the Democrats and the GOP. I also haven't heard her say that Democrats are "ideologically bankrupt". find offensive power over you. Maybe you could consider sympathizing? A tiny bit? It can't be easy watching the one wonderful candidate (the only one who can save us from whatever disaster is currently impending) always lose to terrible ones, every election, decade after decade.

Personally, I don't want to see what'll happen when Sanders turns on her. She is a committed establishment Democrat, after all. He has a lifetime of contempt and zero tolerance for them all, no matter how he's hugging and smiling to appropriate some of her approval right now. But, I just won't read all the spewing that'll be inevitable. Problem solved.

Allowing it to remain so damn expensive, only the well employed or wealthy can afford it. Or, allowing American families to be forced into bankruptcy in order to save the life of a family member.

I think the country needs to be reminded daily what our party is about. What it's really about. AND what our opposition is about.

29. she made one mistake in the spin room last night
Wed Jul 31, 2019, 02:58 PM
Jul 2019

she wouldn't admit that M4A would mean an increase of taxes.

She kept saying it would lower costs.

I know what she was trying to say... yes your taxes will go up, but you total costs will go down because you or your employer will not pay for private insurance AND you will get similar care for less total out of your pocket (co-pays, prescriptions, etc).

All of which might be true ON THE AVERAGE... but for specific people with little or almost no health care issues... they will probably pay more and it will be in the form of higher taxes. Corporations will pay higher taxes too but without the burden of paying for those private insurance plans... probably close to a wash for them.

And people will be covered no matter what happens to them job wise, etc.

But that is hard to explain in a sound bite... she needs a sound bite that explains this concept to folks like Matthews and she needs to say "yes, taxes will go up BUT your total cost will be lower". She just couldn't say "taxes will be higher" because she knows the media and the repukes will nail her with that tag line.

Joe Biden

she was trolling the media for being obsessed with baiting. The increase in taxes will be offset by waving ‘out of pocket’ costs for health care so the net amount of money a family gets to keep would be higher. The main tax increase will be on 1% or less. She actually sold MFA to me as I wasn’t on board and preferred public option as a bridge. But if you start with public option as a negotiating point, you’ll end up with status quo. If you start with MFA, maybe you’ll get public option first.
She made most dems look like chicken afraid of repubs (embarassing).
