(424 posts)I thought as much while people were going after Harris Glad to see facts. And you know, I do not have a problem with Biden dominating with almost five minutes more either. Just, fair is fair as far as attacking a candidate.

(48,975 posts)to attacks. If you have several people attacking you and you're given time to respond to each of them, then yes, you'll end up with more time.
Harris ran over her allotted time almost every time she spoke. I did post a thread about that, because the debate rule was clear and she was violating it. Some other candidates went over the time limit occasionally, but none of them did it as often as Harris.

(6,280 posts).... it is so hard to understand. Joe Biden was attacked Non-Stop. The rules allow for a rebuttal. He abided by the rules set forth concerning time allotted for moderator questions. The rebuttals gave him extra time.
Harris on the other hand consistently and without fail ran over her allotted time for the moderators questions and continuously broke the time rule.

(1,737 posts)Welcome to the debate. Biden has a record that he has yet to speak about the negative aspects. TeamTrump is studying his weaknesses. I believe his avoidance of his negative past is a weakness or his unwillingness to accept that he was wrong on certain issues, shows lack of growth. He needs to address them head on. These debates will make whoever is our nominee, stronger.
I also believe Kamala has to answer to the negative aspects of her past.
Secondly, Harris just finished her sentences and I appreciate that. She wasn't the only debater who attempted to finish a point after being cut off by the moderators. How can I get the gist of what is being said, if a debater isn't allowed to finish his/her sentences?

(6,280 posts).... Joe Biden was taking it from all sides. As far as Harris is concerned, I don't think I observed her adherence to the time rule one single time. There may have been others going over the time limit, but not nearly as often as Harris did. If you actually watched the debate, Joe Biden for the most part actually adhered to the time rule. Taking that fact into consideration, the only explanation for his having more time speaking is the rebuttals. When the candidates were cut off because of the time rule, and when they actually complied with it, it was fairly easy to understand the gist of what they were saying. If you needed the extra words spoken after a time limit, it is understandable. I'm sure a lot of people agree with yoh.

(1,737 posts)Of course you wouldn't have noticed when others did the same thing.
I missed some of Biden points in both debates when he stopped speaking mid sentence. In fact in the first debate, he did the job of the moderators and stopped speaking mid sentence, citing debate time limit.
As for your "almost everyone knows and agrees" statement. It actually reminds of something the current occupant of the White House would say, to try and convince his opposition that they're in the minority. However, I couldn't care less who knows what I know or agrees with me. I don't do groupthink. I have my own mind and my own opinions.

The difference between me and the current occupant of the White House is that the people who knows and agrees actually exist. As far as the occupant in the White House, denying facts is more in line with your view than mine.

That we can agree on.

(1,737 posts)Because frankly we are on the same team and I'm bored.
We have a difference of opinion on what was an attack as opposed to people expressing concern over someone's record. For some of us there are issues with Biden's record and hopefully he will address them effectively, because if not they will be used against him if he's our nominee.
As I've said before, our nominee will come out of this stronger. Biden last evening was better than Biden in the 1st debate.

(1,737 posts)If it is within the rules of this board, then it's ok to post. It wasn't meant to insult. However when I read the statement I chuckled because Trump was exactly who came to mind. I am beginning to feel as if some people feel like they are the only ones entitled to an opinion.
Please remember we are adults here and the expectation is to be treated accordingly.
