WASHINGTON Following two mass shootings within 13 hours, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker said President Donald Trump deserved part of the blame.
This harvest of hate violence that were seeing right now lies at his feet, Booker said Sunday on NBCs Meet the Press.
Booker, a candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, has made gun safety a major plank of his campaign platform, calling for licensing gun owners and banning assault-style weapons. A 10-year ban on such weapons was part of the 1994 crime bill that Booker has slammed former Vice President Joe Biden for supporting.
Responding to the deaths of 20 people in El Paso on Saturday and nine more in Dayton, Ohio, on Sunday, Booker said Trumps rhetoric contributed to the carnage.
The president has singled out for criticism five Democratic Congress members of color, described Haiti and some African nations as shithole countries, and described migrants seeking asylum in the U.S. as an invasion.

Mass murderers, child abuse, child sex trafficking, taking away health care, giving the wealthy huge tax cuts, cuts to Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid. Barr a loyalist turning the justice system into his personal weapon. Conspiring with Putin to get into office and the list is growing daily with the promotion of hate, fear, and lies.
