Ever since the mass shooting in his home town, the media has become intrigued once again by Beto ORourke.
The question now is whether voters will give him a second look.
Initial signs for ORourke arent especially promising, as the former congressman edges closer to resuming his presidential campaign.
His numbers havent budged in the most recently released national polls. The latest Morning Consult poll, released Tuesday, put ORourke at 3 percent nationally, about the same position he held before pausing his campaign and returning to El Paso, Texas, following the shooting that left 22 people dead at a Walmart there.

(2,753 posts)A relevant question is who of the declared candidates for Texas Senate polls the best. Since it's early there has been scant polling on that matter.

(89,264 posts)the amount spent on trying to push him out is disgusting.
i can understand some wanting him to run for Senate. the same goes for many other candidates but he is the only one where they put such a huge amount of focus only on trying to get him out and avoiding reporting on anything else going on.
my guess is it will get worse since he embarrassed them by calling out their bs when it comes to trump and racism.
he never has complained about the reporting on himself and probably never will.
but it's their bs way of reporting on trump that angers him. if for no other reason even just having him call out this shit makes him a valuable candidate.

He planted the seeds with his Senate run in Texas for another candidate or candidate to take off.
Also, if the MSM isn't pushing Buttigieg or Castro out of the race, why are they doing this to O'Rourke?
It makes one wonder.

(1,810 posts)But I do like having him in the race. I also think it shows his fight. Not just when he is getting love from every Democrat in the country like he did when he was against Cruz. That really speaks well to his character. He is a great voice for us and will play a big role moving forward.

(112,417 posts)I expect that it will continue to go up and that he will be featured in the September debate so he catch some more upward momentum. Depending upon his performance relative to the others, I could see where he might surpass Buttigieg and Harris to move into fourth place. At that point, Beto will be the young, alternative to the 70+ candidates.
This race is far from over and Beto has the ability to gain traction over the next few more months. The discussion about him withdrawing is because every other candidate realizes that he has the potential to surge
