Jay Inslee--The Candidate Who May Be the Best of the Bunch

It's 108-110 in my part of Texas and there's a drought. The wildlife are suffering, people and crops, too. Climate change is here. I want to hear more from Jay Inslee, who is spearheading real programs to deal with it in Washington state. He even co-wrote a book, "Apollo's Fire: Igniting America's Clean Energy Economy," that proposes how we could create millions of jobs and make progress in combating the most serious crisis facing our world. Inslee's record of accomplishments in Washington state are impressive, as stated by The Atlantic: "On his watch, the state has boosted health care, increased access to early-childhood education and college, raised the minimum wage, expanded paid family leave, invested in infrastructure, and established in-state net neutrality, all while leading the country in job growth, overall personal-income growth, and GDP." Inslee is not a flash and dash candidate. He hasn't made headlines by attacking opponents or spitting out zingy one-liners. But I have to wonder if this man with a solid legislative record and an outstanding record of progress in his state is not the best, all around candidate to defeat Trump. He has the ability to be a good president, and he deserves to be in the September debates. We're making a mistake here, in my opinion, in not giving this man our full attention and support.

Do you think he can dominate Trump in a debate, which is more about presentation than facts?

When he began as Governor, we still had the divided legislature we'd had for decades. But under him, we were finally, in 2018, able to turn both Houses blue.

I don't know why he couldn't use the same appeal that he's used in the more conservative part of Washington in the swing states you mentioned. Washington USED to be a swing state.

Just hit him right back when he insults (perhaps making merciless fun of his hair will shut him up) - destroy him on the issues - keep pounding him over his outrageous criminality, his plethora of impeachable offenses - ALL of our candidates can slaughter Trump in a debate (as Hillary did three times - according to the polls taken afterwards.)

Our biggest concern will be the cheating from the Russians/Republicans team - HACKING THE VOTE TOTALS, and social media influence campaign.

Unfortunately, the guy who literally wrote the book on climate change might be excluded, because they're using the same criteria that they're using for the debates.

It's never about policy, but personality. Or celebrity. Blame whoever or whatever you want, but it always comes down to that.

Inslee has the chops IMO -- experience and leadership -- to be POTUS. But there's no way in hell ...

but I'd be willing to take a chance on him. He's my number 3 candidate.

Beto is my number one for VP. I would have no problem with an Inslee/Beto ticket. I know, diversity and gender and all. Much as I'd like to see Warren or Harris at the top of the ticket, I'm also prepaird for a "two white guys" ticket...just in case.

so he'd be risking his political career on running for corynins seat, plus there is already a strong candidate running.

Did Hickenlooper decide to run for senate or is he still mulling it? Bullock should definatly run for senate, he has no chance at the nomination and brings nothing to the ticket as VP - something like three electorial votes.

Beto is strong regionally. I'm not sure how he's polling nationally.

My thinking is that what we need is someone really strong in helping downticket votes for the Senate in 2020, and Warren fits that for me.

She could be a really good behind-the-scenes whip to get senate votes and public policy sell with Inslee. He's got climate change cost numbers and she's got the national sell to the public and corporations, who KNOW they don't need $ 8 - 10 TRILLION in subsidies each and every year.

like to know what really works.

They're both for medicare for all, a healthy population improving the economy, considering all the jobs Inslee's national climate projects along with the green new deal, will create.

People want both -- to be healthy and make a living wage.

It may in fact be, but it's not to the average voter, especially the ones in PA, MI and WI. Once he manages to get elected on pocketbook issues, then he can develop a climate change policy.
