Pete Buttigieg Makes GOP Nightmares Real By Equating A Vote For Trump To Racism

Pete Buttigieg Makes GOP Nightmares Real By Equating A Vote For Trump To Racism
Pete Buttigieg made a clear argument that people who vote for Trump are looking the other way on racism.

Pete Buttigieg: A Vote For Trump Is Looking The Other Way On Racism

Transcript via CNN State Of The Union:
TAPPER: You told me on the show two weeks ago that you believe President Trump is a white nationalist.

Given that, do you think that it’s a racist act to cast a vote for President Trump in 2020?

BUTTIGIEG: Well, at best, it means looking the other way on racism.

But I think a lot of people are wondering what kind of deal even that is supposed to be.

You know you look at what he said in that rally, “You have got no choice but to vote for me.”

And if you look at the numbers, basically, what he’s saying is, all right, I want you to look the other way on the racism, tolerate the negativity, accept the instability of my administration, because I am going to deliver for you job growth almost as good as the Obama years.

That’s what his argument amounts to right now. And it’s part of the reason why he’s unpopular.

The argument that Buttigieg made is the one that keeps Republican strategists awake at night. Trump has no chance of winning votes outside of his base of support if a vote for Trump means a vote for turning a blind eye to racism.

Buttigieg didn’t call Trump supporters racists. He attached a meaning to a vote for Trump and by extension the Republican Party that Republicans don’t want to have in the minds of voters. Trump’s supporters are going to stick with him no matter what, but it is suburban Republicans in swing and red states that Republicans have to have who are going to be swayed by the argument that voting for Trump equals a vote to enable racism.

A vote for Trump is giving the country four more years of racism is the last thing that Republicans want voters to think as they cast their ballots in 2020.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Buttigieg's argument that we need major structural reform is such an obvious but little-discussed topic. Ezra Klein wrote a good piece based on what Mayor Pete said on that subject. But structural reform gets lost in the shuffle. Our system is broken beyond repair. We continue to go through the motions, but it's one giant clusterfuck.

If the media and the electorate weren't so void of clear-mindedness, they would recognize how incredible it is that the longest-serving member in the history of Congress (not some wild-eyed leftist) argued for the abolishment of the US Senate. Not just abolishing the filibuster or some other procedure. The abolishment of the United States Senate. That should be Earth-shattering. What's more, Dingell was exactly right.

That members of the media ask these questions is beyond ridiculous. I'm reminded of the evolution-deniers or climate change deniers who want to "teach the controversy." As if there are 2 rational and opposing sides to the argument.

If Trump responds, he is done. If he says, "I am not a racist" he is done, that is an obvious lie.
What if he doesn't respond. He will get the question again, and again, and again.

Why? simple: Trump is a racist. Other Democrats can now question Trump on racism.

Pete may have saved the country, and insured that Trump loses. (Jake Tapper initiated the conversation-- correction..)

Or, he may not run for re-election if this becomes the major issue....because.....Trump is a racist...and...most of us know it, but to make it an issue that people discuss in the news...Trump looses because....
......Trump is a racist.

......Each time he denies the truth, Trump lies for the whole nation to see..When he says, "I am not a racist" Trump becomes the laughing stock of the nation....that is 70 percent who know the truth, and can figure that out. The 30 percent who are true Trumpers forever and forever, will see that 30 percent is not enough to win an election. And they will find out the hard way, if Trump runs for reelection .........................

............after listening and watching to the video I found I made a mistake.......
I MUST ADMIT A MISTAKE IN THIS POST: JAKE TAPPER WHO INITIATED THE CONVERSATION. PETE RESPONDED. Jake has done a real service by initiating this conversation..!!!!!!

Over and over and over and over. Again and again. And this is very important...Jake Tapper initiated this. It is not Pete, but Jake who may have saved this country. Idiot for his support of white supremacy. He made it clear what his stance was when he first ran in 2015. His rallies were full of atrocious racists seething with hate for people of color. Very few people and the media bothered to call him out for it. Since this Idiot's election it's been very clear with the violence, deaths and the significant increase in domestic terrorism associated with the Alt-right that he fully supports the hate by not calling them out.
