Kamala: "We must speak truth: The United States stole land from Tribes"
Alex Wesaw @AlexWesaw1h@KamalaHarris, just joined the #NativeForum remotely, mentioned growing up with an appreciation of Tribes and stated that her policy will be that cabinet officials will consult with Tribes for their advice/perspective before development occurs #NativeVote2020 #NativeVote

Applause for Harris for her plain-spoken statement the government stole land in response to question on Tribal land rights.

Tribes will have direct liaisons with Cabinet Level officials and will consult with NA tribes under President Harris.
She will consult NA about judicial nominations. Kamala commits to learning from NA leaders the history and issues affecting them.

"About sovereignty and the future and making sure these children know and have their rightful connection to their tribes."
Judges must be educated on the issue. ICWA doesn't matter if it can't be enforced.
GREAT answer from Harris on this issue.

Here we go. History of stolen Native children. Native children four times more likely to be in foster care. How will you protect ICWA?
Answer. I lead as AG on the ICWA issue as a civil rights issue. Not just a matter of compliance, one of rights.

Kamala: I created a department within the state and created the ICWA compliance task force. This is a fundamental issue. It is Our responsibility to address how these children end up in foster care.
