Jill Biden: 'Swallow a little bit' and vote for Joe

"Your candidate might be better on, I don't know, health care, than Joe is, but you've got to look at who's going to win this election," she said. "And maybe you have to swallow a little bit and say, 'OK, I personally like so and so better,' but your bottom line has to be that we have to beat Trump."

...this is the primary where voters bring their issues forward and look for candidates who will represent those in the election and beyond.

Selling ourselves short right now may be well and good for the former second lady, but many of us have been through campaigns before where we're promised to just get this candidate or that in the door and everything will magically fall in place.

It NEVER happens that ignored issues, concerns given short shrift for political expediency, initiatives shelved because some republican somewhere won't vote for it, somehow resurrect themselves after election day.

We have a wide and diverse field of candidates to choose from. ANY of the top tier can move on from our convention with almost the entire party behind them, and then some. None of these candidates should expect to lose against Trump.

It's campaign fiction that Biden is the best candidate to beat Trump. His 'electability' quotient is an invention of polling, more that something concrete about Biden. His 'experience' is that he ran three times for president, on his own, and lost three times.

The Bidens should be humbled by those experiences, but they're out here claiming he's a lock. Forgive my political memory, but her husband has more to prove to me than where he stands in the polls over a year out from the election.

If they want to make it their strategy to portray other campaigns as one-issue, or inferior, that's their call, but we have several capable candidates who haven't experienced three failed presidential runs, candidates who are proposing different solutions, different approaches, different initiatives, and suggesting we "swallow a little" at this point is just condescending and arrogant, not withstanding Jill Biden's good character.

“swallowed a little bit” and now our “president” cages children and is trying to buy Denmark.

We have several qualified candidates, so I plan to listen and learn. Many of our candidates have a fresh, forward-leaning approach to old problems and a very different way of looking at things.
Some voters might find that exciting and inspirational. I do.

'Rigging the game': Stacey Abrams kicks off campaign to fight voter suppression

Abrams, a potential Democratic nominee for vice-president, says African American voter suppression has ‘gone underground’

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/aug/18/stacey-abrams-campaign-fight-voter-suppression

Stacey Abrams is a potential Democratic nominee for vice-president in 2020. She is also now the leader of a national campaign against voter suppression and intimidation which she launched on Saturday in Georgia, where last year she lost a controversial race for governor.

The former Georgia House minority leader kicked off Fair Fight 2020 at an elementary school in Gwinnett county, near Atlanta. Gwinnett turned Democratic in elections which saw Abrams’ narrow defeat by Republican Brian Kemp gain national attention.

Kemp was Georgia’s secretary of state, which meant he oversaw his own race. Abrams, with others, filed a lawsuit alleging serious flaws within the overall process.

On Saturday, she told her audience: “Gwinnett proved that you are the future. But … we are still mired in a past of voter suppression. And voter intimidation. And mistakes made. But we are going to correct those mistakes in 2020.”

Speaking to ABC’s This Week in an interview broadcast on Sunday, she said: “We have a right to vote in the United States that is afforded to eligible American citizens but we have seen over the last 20 years a constriction on who has the right to use that right.

https://fairfight.com/fair-fight-2020/

Like decades of past elections, the 2018 elections in Georgia were rife with mismanagement and irregularities, but Georgians are fighting back. Fair Fight advocates for election reform, engages in voter education, and encourages turnout in order to secure the voting rights of all Georgians. The 501(c)(4) arm of the organization, Fair Fight Action, engages in activities such as conducting a vote-by-mail program; educating voters about elections, voting procedures, and voting rights; and facilitating a get-out-the-vote program to mobilize voters to cast their ballots during early voting and on election day.

This year, Fair Fight is working to expand democracy and ensure all voters have access to the polls. We promote fair elections in Georgia and around the country, encourage voter participation in elections, and educate voters about elections and their voting rights. Fair Fight brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and engages in targeted voter registration and other voter outreach programs and communications.

...absolutely...

...Joe's a nice guy and all but he's a little past sell-by...

...we need fresh ideas in Washington; a new way of thinking, a new way of approaching our intransigent problems...

...Joe lacks the burn in the belly, the burn that Bernie has...Bernie intensely believes in what he's saying and what he wants to do...and he wants you to believe it too...

...Joe on the other hand seems more scripted and plastic...

...Joe is good, Elizabeth is better, but Bernie is best...

...it's the way it is...

employer provided plans they like and pay much higher taxes. Like me, they also worry about
quality. We can work with what we have now and make a path to universal coverage.

So I don’t have to swallow. But Jill knows progressives are hyper-focused on policy and so sold on
one option among many to drastically improve healthcare that they reject the most all around qualified, prepared, experienced, and knowledgeable candidate in the hopes of getting a particular policy agenda. Foolhardy because M4All won’t be implemented, if ever, under any candidate, and meanwhile all the political and financial capital invested in it could undermine Obamacare, Medicaid, and certainly the excellent coverage many seniors have on Medicare plus supplemental
insurance.

Fix it where it needs fixing, and leave what’s not broken alone.

Seems to me that is Biden’s plan.

https://www.businessinsider.com/most-americans-employer-based-plans-healthcare-medicare-for-all-2019-8

A majority of Americans with employer-based health insurance don't mind if it changes to Medicare for All — as long as they can keep their current coverage

59% said they would support switching their employer-based health insurance to a government plan under Medicare for All. This figure includes 20% of respondents who said they "didn't like" their plan, which are more likely to contain voters more persuadable to back Medicare for All.

about retirees whose retirement benefits pays 100 percent of the Medicare fee and the supplemental plan to provide 100 percent coverage and medications for two to fifteen dollars a prescription?

My plan covers urgent care and emergency if I travel abroad(up to six month) and if I retire abroad, though I would lose Medicare.

Many on single payer in Europe, NHS especially, endure huge wait times, quality disparities between service areas, and must pay out of pocket for good specialists. They do not contrary to what some Americans believe, get all drugs or procedures approved. Under NHS, hip replacement surgeries are now considered elective with wait lists so long elderly die before their number comes up.

Frankly, we don’t know what M4All will look like. However,

the plans won’t be the same.
