It creates a desperate workforce to prey on.
You ever wonder why wages stagnated in 1978 buying power? Why not 1970 or 1980? Because the right wing propaganda started in earnest in 1976, not just for the religious, pro-unborn propaganda but general crazy hateful right wing propaganda. ...2 years later wages stopped increasing.
The first major anti-abortion success since Roe's case came in 1976 with the passing of the Hyde Amendment prohibiting the use of certain federal funds for abortions. In Harris v. McRae, anti-abortion advocates won a 1980 challenge to the Hyde Amendment.
