'She's not going to make it': Friends and donors want Gillibrand to drop out

Friends, former staffers, and donors say it's time for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand to end her low-polling presidential campaign, as she struggles to reach the donor threshold that would qualify her for the next set of debates.

Instead of focusing on a losing presidential campaign, they instead want the New York Democrat to focus on staying in the Senate.

“It would be best if she decided that this was not her time,” one longtime Gillibrand fundraiser told the New York Post. "Most people that I talk to are very happy with her as their senator and don’t want her to give up her Senate seat and don’t see any realistic traction for her."

“I don’t know that anyone even wants to see her on the debate stage. Everyone I have talked to finds her performative and obnoxious,” a former senior staffer in Gillibrand’s Senate office said.

I really can't trust Gillibrand's stance on issues. When she was in the House, she voted like a Blue Dog. Once she became a Senator, she was on the progressive side of every issue.

I was undecided for some time, so I looked at all the candidates. I looked at Gillibrand's past voting record and it seemed to me as if she voted in a way that was most advantageous to advancing her political career. I'm very progressive, but I have supported more moderate candidates in the past because they were honest about their positions and could articulate why they came to their positions on issues. I just didn't get that from her. I don't want a candidate who casts votes based on how it will help his/her political future.

I don't think there's any way Gillibrand will be our nominee, but should that happen, I will support her completely. I just think we have so many better choices.

Using Me Too to derail a decent man and one of our strongest voices in the Senate was despicable.
