(29,098 posts)And there is still a long line to take selfies with Warren. She's going to be here all night it looks like. If these kinds of crowds keep up she may need to take group selfies soon.

(10,667 posts)What's going to happen is that each person who gets one is going to share theirs on facebook, Instagram, email, twitter, etc. And many of their friends/followers/etc. will share their friend's picture with their friends. Soon enough everyone will have and be thrilled to have either a picture of themselves with Warren or a picture of a friend or a friend of a friend with Warren. It's got to be tiring, but she and her staff must have figured this all out, hence the priority her campaign puts on this.

(6,110 posts)So what if Seattle is basically a blue city. People do not take time and effort do attend a rally unless they are inspired by the candidate.
If someone does not believe me, watch the crowd size of any other candidate in Seattle.

(6,699 posts)You know, the coward douchebag in the White House is ALWAYS bragging about what a big crowd he has. He has no concept of numbers, so it's usually in the millions; but that is a tiny, tiny, fraction of the voters. The same goes for Warren, Biden, Sanders, etc, etc. Give it up. BIG crowds...HUGE crowds....two people...I can relate to that, and maybe that is enough said. Fifteen thousand is really nothing in the Pacific Northwest. If you've got millions...well, then you've got something to boast about; but until then, let's drop the number count. It just gives the opponents something to snear at and ridicule.

(108,978 posts)Seattle is a city with a population of less than 800K. The entire state of WA only has 7.5 million people. And more than a dozen candidates are still running.
But YOU won't be impressed unless Warren gets MILLIONS to turn out.
The truth is Warren got a great turnout here.

(6,699 posts)I'm just saying rally numbers don't mean squat...unless it's two or millions. Any major metro area can pull out 15K. dRumpf pulls 15K. Not knocking that she's a front runner. She's my first choice, but I don't get in to the numbers game.
Just fyi, I'm from the area. You can say 800K, but with all the surrounding burbs and metro areas, it's actually in the millions. I'm not moved by anyone getting 15K. I am just saying, it's a non-factor.

(6,110 posts)It was lot of effort. First I had to acquire tickets on-line. Then drive the 15 miles to the venue. Then find a parking place several blocks away from the venue. Then walk to the beginning of very long line several blocks away. Then wait in line for several hours in long line to get inside the venue. Not many have the time or energy to do it. So I began admiring any political rally with 5 figure crowds. If nothing else, it certainly shows the base is energized by the particular candidate.

(108,978 posts)Yes, attending a rally like this requires a very large effort and time commitment.
Many true supporters are not able to make that investment.

(3 posts)Lived in Seattle many wonderful years. Very familiar with that specific area of the Warren speech. Very lovely. However the maximum capacity of that area is 5000 and that is on the generous side. If you needed a 15,000 seat area you would go to the nearby Seattle Center auditoriums.

(6,110 posts)Venues inside a building are limited to declared capacity and is enforced by the fire marshal.
Outside venues can easily exceed estimated capacity with standing room only crowds.

(3 posts)Campaign stated only that area for attendees and no other picture of attendees in other areas. So yeah even with an overflow 5,000 is quite generous as an attendance figure.
