cost. He's going to cover everyone, pick up a big chunk of coinsurance/deductibles most people pay, etc.

That is going to cost more than that. I think he's probably not counting the cost of Medicaid, Medicare, etc., in that $75B when comparing his plant to Sanders' (and apparently Warren's) plan. And, he's probably doing something funky with how cost currently paid by employers is counted. Problem is, I also think Sanders' (and likely Warrens') plan is also funky in the areas of costs and funding sources.

But, I'm sure those details will be coming so we can compare. Who knows, maybe we will go into the General Election with a hybrid plan hashed about among the candidates that is something good, but appeals to a lot more voters than MFA.

.....does he have a cost to retrain all the thousands of people working in the private insurance industry or pay those who can't find alternate jobs welfare?

And he doesn't even touch on all the services provided by private insurance companies to administer the existing government Medicare system, and who would perform those services.

has better sense than to do that again.

Interesting, I just read a thread where Sanders is pledging to not forget coal miners when he moves us away quickly from fossil fuels. He's talking about training for things like renewable energy, energy grid rebuilding, running communications lines to rural areas, etc. Point is, he'd have to come up with something for insurance workers too. I'm not that worried about displaced health insurance employees, as far as holding off restructuring our healthcare financing and delivery system.

I can't see anything, but a public option, being something that could be initiated quickly. If you could get it enacted, I bet it would be over 10 years to phase in MFA. And, the law will be attacked on every front for decades.

He wasn't talking about health care, he was talking about Sanders' claim that only "Medicare for All" (which is health care INSURANCE) would cover all Americans, correctly saying that Sanders was wrong. Health care and health care insurance are two completely different things.

Biden was correct in that there are other proposals from other candidates that would cover all Americans.

You're welcome in advance.

---

The Biden plan expands upon the Affordable Care Act (ACA) by adding a government-run public option to compete alongside private insurers and by making existing subsidies for private plans more generous. The plan nears universal coverage, but falls short by the campaign’s own admission: It would cover an estimated 97% of Americans.

I prefer Biden’s approach of using the ACA as a platform on which to build. It was architected to evolve and improve.

The Consumer Health Insurance Protection Act introduced by Warren last year builds on the ACA, though more aggressively and less insurance-industry friendly than Biden.

I would be thrilled with either approach, though.
