(4,066 posts)If you can't raise the funds or get the numbers in the polls then you deserve to be eliminated. You're just wasting space.

(2,331 posts)He has the polling numbers and the donation threshold.
Calling something garbage when the rules are clearly established and communicated is ridiculous. Reminds me of Sanders supporters whining about state primary contest rules in 2016.

(2,331 posts)I don't necessarily buy into Yang's ideas but he has a following. The people who didn't make the debate stage have less of a following.
It is a mixture of polling data and fundraising strength. I think it is fair.

(2,331 posts)A Senator from NY or California has a fundraising advantage than a Governor of Montana based on the fact they have an existing donor list and it requires more funds to run that race.
Beto had a huge advantage because he had a donor list from a nationally covered race he lost.

Just because they are the rules doesn't mean they are good rules.

(31,261 posts)Yang's call for GI is intriguing and is likely getting him more attention than Bennett or Inslee, when Inslee was in the race. I honestly have not heard one trademark policy proposal coming from Bennett and unfortunately, today, people care more about finding the money to pay rent or the Mortage than they do about a more complex issue like climate change.

(108,977 posts)the end of human life on the planet? No biggie.
We can always do what Yang first proposed -- just sell our homes on the coasts and move inland!

(31,261 posts)and republicans and most big business seem determined to muddy that water even more. But whether a person has money for the rent or Mortage is a clear and present issue to even an idiot. In my state of Florida, more and more, the people buying coastal homes with a sea view are welloff, many of those homes are in the millions of dollars, it is almost impossible to buy a $400,000 coastal townhouse or condo with a view here now.

fix this in 10 years no matter who wins the presidency or the even if we take the Senate...we can start...with green energy jobs for the rust belt and the south...tie it in with jobs. But it wont be done quicly....face facts. I was listening to Al Sharpton's radio program and some of his callers do not believe in climate change or if they do that we can fix it...these are Democrats. Hysteria over this or any issue won't help us...one thing for sure if we don't win the presidency...it will be worsend by the GOP.
On edit I wanted to make sure you understand...that I was not calling you hysteria...but speaking generally.

But Yang was saying it's too late and people on the coasts should just sell and move inland. That's not a solution, which he apparently recognizes now.

(108,977 posts)If we had been smart enough to schedule a debate devoted to climate change,we would have demonstrated, as a party, our understanding of how critical this issue was. We gave up the opportunity.
The Town Hall will be missing the most important voice, Jay Inslee, who wrote a book on the crisis ten years ago.

(108,977 posts)Although as recently as the first debate his climate change plan was to have everybody on the coasts sell their property (not clear who would want to buy it though.) So that wasn't exactly well thought out, despite all the time he'd had to get a plan together.

I can understand the frustration, but if there is a better way, Im open to hearing about it.

It's possible that the October debate will be larger than the September debates. Realistically this is probably going to cull a lot of the struggling campaigns, though. I imagine Gravel will probably keep going...
