Families of color want to see Kamala Harris, even if she's not locked down their vote

Proud to be a part of this historic campaign for a lot of reasons including stories like this. https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/28/politics/kamala-harris-families-of-color/index.html

from CNN:

____ The 2020 Democratic hopefuls are historically diverse, with more women and people of color than ever before. But Harris carries both gender and race on the stage as a visual promise for the next generation.

Diverse parents and their children say her very presence in the 2020 race, amid a rising tide of hateful rhetoric, is meaningful. CNN has seen families of color bear witness at Harris rallies from Iowa to South Carolina to Nevada this year.

That is not lost on the candidate herself, who weaves a fundamental philosophy from her mother into her stump speech. Shyamala Gopalan, an immigrant from India, peppered her daughters Kamala and Maya with many sayings, among them, "You may be the first to do many things. Make sure you're not the last."

It's a lesson that Harris appears to embody, repeatedly pausing and talking to children at her events.

"When I see those little girls in particular, I see myself," said Harris in an interview with CNN. "I see the children of my family. I see the children of our country. And I see the promise of our country. It means the world to me. It is about helping all children to see what's possible. This is what's possible. Don't you ever accept what anyone tells you are the limitations of what you can do based on your race or gender."

She gets energy from inspired children on the long campaign trail.
"It is my true hope that my career, and whatever I can do, empowers other people of any age. It's about mentorship. It's about those kids who show up."

I saw a national poll where the top 3 were Warren, Biden and Sanders...she coming in 4th place at a mere 8%..I really don't know what more she has to do to get her poll numbers up but what ever her plans are, she best be making a move or be left behind... She still has my vote..but I wish she would do better.

...Obama was still trailing Hillary by 20 pts. at this at this stage of the election.

She has good organization, especially in early key states, and it's expanding. She's still locking down endorsements, as well.

So Iowa, a state that some thought she was ignoring in favor of South Carolina, has become an unexpectedly promising target for Harris. She’s running third here, behind Biden and Warren. Overwhelmingly, Harris seems, in mid-August, the candidate Iowans most want to like. “You’re in my top two,” they tell her, as only an Iowan can.

I forgot to mention that, the poll she was in, Had Warren, Biden and Sanders all in a tie with Kamala coming up forth. I am seeing stories about her on DU but..her polls have only gone up like 1%.. I don't know what she has to do to land on top .. but I sure hopes she finds out what it takes to get there...and has a successful landing!

Are trolls. Yes she needs to get her numbers up, and I think she will, but don't let the trolls influence you.
