I heard Warren called bossy last weekend.

I visited with some of my family last weekend. As usually in my family, we ended up talking politics. One of my relatives doesn't like Warren because she find her too bossy. I told her that I didn't agree and thought the term was sexist.

Another relative is very liberal but is still a registered republican. Two others are conservative republicans. There was also a Bernie supporter, a Beto supporter and a Buttigieg supporter. As well as some people who hadn't decided yet but had strong opinions about who they did not like in the primaries.

It is going to be a long primary and election. I'm kind of glad that I won't be able to visit for the holidays this year.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I don’t remember ever hearing a man -any man - being called bossy. This “bossy” thing has to be squelched in its infancy. The people who say it have to be awakened.

but usually people just go straight to "asshole" when they feel that way about a male who they perceive as telling others what to do in an unkind way.

Sen. Warren does have a mannerism about her that Sen. Klobuchar doesn't, and it may have to be dealt with. Or, you can spend 2020 "awakening" people who are set in their ways and beliefs.

but bossy is bossy no matter what the gender. There are clearly more sexist terms to describe a woman who is doing what is deemed "assertive" in a man.

“consciousness raising” era of the 60’s and 70’s. And I still see plenty of need for it. In my supermarket, where a new checkout is only opened if a man is on line, in the lingo of my repair person who calls his 50 year office assistant “my girl”, and right here on DU, in the subject matter and posts on, for example, this thread..

Women, especially those in power, are often held to a higher standard or are often deemed bossy by someone uncomfortable with their power. I totally understand that.

But what are you supposed to say if you just simply think someone is bossy. I think Bernie Sanders is bossy. I don’t think Warren is THAT bossy, but I can totally understand why some people may have similar feelings about Warren.

So how is one supposed to navigate these waters if you think someone is bossy, and they just happen to be a woman?

I’m trying to ask an honest question and start a discussion. No malice intended or attempt to be critical of ones beliefs.
