I just realized another reason why I like Warren.

She, to me, is not motivated at all by a desire to be president. She is motivated by a strong desire to cure the inequities that she discovered as a Republican doing an academic investigation into the reasons why families go bankrupt.

The only other candidate that radiates this, for me, is Sanders. But I'm not a Sanders supporter.

What do the rest of you think? Do any others give that impression? Do you think I'm right about Warren and Sanders?

She first came on my radar when she was working on oversight of TARP. Then, of course, with the creation of the CFPB. In both cases, she was working to fix broken things for the public good.

Yes, I agree. Elizabeth Warren was an academic and her research proved to her what needed to be done. So, now she is working to remedy the inequities. This view likely makes her an ideal candidate meaning she not going to be interested in anything partisan that might take away from her goal.

I agree that Warren appears to be motivated by the strong desire for social justice (in all in aspects). Not so sure about Sanders. Given his behavior during the last election, him, immediately after nominating Clinton, walking off the floor and resigning from the Dems, I think he is more interested in the status thereof. His actions back then seemed to me to be petulant.
I like Warren's plans and her voluminous ideas about how to manage capitalism so that it works for us both as a country and in the world. She doesn't hit all of my concerns, but does, more than anyone else, hit most of the important ones. I also think, given that she has campaign workers in EVERY state, and is able to organize multiple groups, she would hit the ground running on that first day.

As I have said before,, We need to get our foot in the door before we can enter the house. I still think that Joe is our best bet to beat the Idiot in Charge. With either Warren or Harris as VP. Joe can win alot of R voters. My suggestion was let's do Joe for 4 years and Warren agree to be VP with understanding that Joe won't run again. It gives Warren 4 years to learn the WH and how it works and she can be even more awesome when she wins in 2024. The reason I support Biden is,,,WE as Dems,,need to get our foot in the door first and build from there.

Dems can win because suburban women are abandoning the GOP and our staunchest voters are African-American women. We may never win back most white working class men, but a candidate who appeals to our base and who excites and motivates them to get out the vote is what we need. A mediocre, safe candidate will lose this election.

18. I believe this is a general principle,
Sat Sep 7, 2019, 09:57 PM
Sep 2019

and applies to lots more than to being President.

It the difference between "want to be" and "want to do. And it's crucial

To use just one example, "I want to be a writer" is nowhere near enough. You have to want to write. Many of not most successful authors will tell you that you have to want to write so much that you feel physical pain if you are prevented. That you feel, if you can't write, that you can't breathe. That's a universe away from wanting to "be a writer."

I do agree that Elizabeth wants to save our nation that badly.

I don't know about the other candidates. I admit that, if for Candidate X I don't happen to feel it at this point, that doesn't mean it isn't there. But, yeah, no one radiates it like Warren.

And I think Sanders is the same.

I want the candidate that has the best chance of beating Trump . And I will fully support and donate and work for the eventual nominee.

I hope there is no thumb on the scale in the primaries. I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face if there is, but I will be pissed.

Do, not be. I like that. Of course what you do is what you are.

Nice to have two in the race who are fighting hard for those of us left behind on Main Street, rather than the greedy few on Wall Street.

I think they would make a great presidential ticket.
