and I believe he is a REAL institutionalist, a constitutionalist.

That said, my guess is he's going to select a VP candidate that is very complementary to him and by that I mean fills out the strengths of the ticket--POC and/or female, complementary background in areas unlike his own and likely much younger. It is hard to imagine too many such choices who would not be very much committed to taking a tough line. Biden isn't a self-serving narcissist nor a stubborn ideologue. He WILL listen to others in making such decisions, I feel certain.

He also knows his history and the nearly straight line from allowing Nixon a "graceful exit" sans REAL repercussions to decades of pushing the constitutional boundaries, especially by the RW to today's near lawless attitudes.

Had Ford not pardoned Nixon, it is quite likely he would have been prosecuted. This is where a President can directly and constitutionally put their finger on the scale.

He can't pardon for state or local crimes nor to preempt impeachment.

I frankly don't see Pence--after flushing his supposed religious belief and related credibility to appease Trump during this term-- being all that willing to give up a chance at being elected on his own account. Should Trump step down just prior to elections (or thereafter) in order that Pence might pardon him, Trump might be sorely surprised.

Pence will continue to be VPOTUS until Jan. 20, 2021 even if trump dumps Pence from the ticket and replace Pence with Niki Haley. The trouble with it that trump may need Pence to pardon him when Biden beats trump

I can see trump resigning if he loses and then asking Pence to pardon him (trump would have already pardon his family)

It is not clear if a POTUS can pardon himself and so trump needs to keep Pence happy

Dumping Pence will make it very unlikely that Pence would be happy to pardon trump

prevent a POTUS from taking a revenge against vanquished opponents. This is what separates us from banana republics like Pakistan where they routinely murder ex PMs.

NY State and Andrew Cuomo will send Trump Crime Family to Sing Sing or Attica. Biden cannot and will not interfere.

the most important thing, to me, is getting him and his spawn out of the WH in the first place. It's impossible to determine whether any particular candidate is "the right person" to ensure they are prosecuted because presidents don't do that. Nixon wasn't prosecuted because Ford pardoned him; if he hadn't been pardoned it's very possible that federal prosecutors would have sought indictments against him because there was plenty of evidence that he committed crimes. Obviously no Democratic president is going to pardon Trump. But whether he is prosecuted isn't up to the president. Presidents (good ones, anyhow) make a point of avoiding even the appearance of getting involved with any federal prosecutions (which are supposed to be independent of the presidency), and for a new president to interject him/herself into a possible prosecution of Trump would be inappropriate, to say the least, and politically disastrous. Vote for the person most likely to beat Trump and let the legal system take care of the rest.

No president is going to do what you want. BUT, I feel full confidence in all of our candidates making goo appointments to the DOJ that will root out any cases to be made and pursue them aggressively.

It is OUR responsibility to get a Congress (House and Senate) that will conduct any hearings needed.

As much as I’m personally with you in wanting to see that family convicted and incarcerated, I don’t want a President that will make it part of her or his agenda. I want a President that will make good appointments that executes prosecution of this family based 100% on evidence and the laws they have broken. I REALLY want a congress that will close all of the legal loopholes that this family has exploited with solid laws preventing future abuses by the executive branch.

remember that Ford pardoned Nixon because he believed that it was a time for healing, not revenge. The wolves were at the gate ready for a feast, but that's not the way we should do things.

It is now a time for healing and rebuilding again. Nixon, bad as he was, didn't do nearly as much destruction to the nation as Trump has. Crooked, but smart as hell and something of a patriot, largely limited his crimes to getting elected, not destroying the legacies of his predecessors. He even gave us the EPA, although kicking and screaming all the way.

It's a much bigger job now, and we really can't get sidetracked by a war with the Trumpons.

He always called him "Sleepy Joe."

So, if Biden is happy to work with people who actively want to dehumanize and enslave African-Americans, really how bad is Trump when you think about it?

It's not like kids were locked up in cages while Biden was in the White House. He said so himself: "I don't get wrong things like, we should lock kids up in cages at the border." And if he said it, then it must be true (please don't Google that).

Don't hold your breath for Biden to come down hard on Trump world. Let bygones be bygones.
