Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumOkay I will be the first to admit VP Bidens base is basically working class people
You are going to see the union people, the plumbers, electricians and fire fighters at Joes' rallies. Its more racially diverse, .. and culturally diverse.
That may be a negative for some, but I see it as a positive on all levels. Why, because the working class, and the lower middle, POC are our backbone.
We need everyone!.. and hopefully, (and I think he will) VP Joe draws more from the suburbs also. I wish I could see the numbers on that. The so called soccer Moms have been coming our way, as have the non-college women.
I got to see a video someone posted here yesterday, with our people cheering VP Biden as he went to register in NH. Usually our supporters are at work middle of the day, so you know they had to take vacation time to do this.
I am proud of our base, and think Joe can expand it upwards and out to younger voters too. Keep up the good work VP Joe. There are a lot of us who have full faith in you

It was a thing of beauty.. as were a lot of working class.. the thing that surprised me, was the number of young families.. middle of the day. who were also there.. as I said in the op, people in the working class are taking vacation to come to a rally.. Its a big deal!!

(10,828 posts)That statement underscores a lot of Biden's support on the ground with a variety of groups. It's personal, intimate because of relationships, networks and outreach forged over decades.
The firefighters are all in. Good one on them!

(11,805 posts)...votes who switched from Obama in 2012 to Trump in 2016. We need to get the majority of them back. Having a pro-union, pro-working class candidate is fundamental. 77,740 votes is what we need to make up folks. Were closer than we think.

(58,785 posts)The base by definition is our very large group of dependably loyal and committed Democrats, which ranges across all colors, religions, ethnicities, ages, and educational and income levels.
That is the huge, uniting strength VP Joe Biden's candidacy has brought to the 2020 elections, and it has endured through all the attacks, while all other candidates have failed to generate that unity.
Of course external enemies here and in other nations are ranged against VP Biden. Those include a strongly RW infiltrated MSM that started sabotaging him long before he entered the race. And here he is, solidly out ahead anyway.
Btw, those who genuinely dislike Biden here are a small minority and should not fool themselves they're part of a large opposition inside our party. They're not. Biden is either first or second with virtually all our party's voters because of who and what he is and because we intend to win.
86 days to kickoff!

(7,517 posts)It's not AA voters, it's older AA voters who prefer him. I imagine the same applies to working class voters. Age is the determining factor in support for Biden. In fact, not just among young people, but one recent poll had Biden at just 17 percent among those under 50:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/11/03/most-important-divide-among-democratic-voters/
I guess some are tyring to counter the perception of Biden as a man of the Wlall Street types (a perception he is helping to fuel with his big money donors) but the fact is if you are going to talk about his base, it's those over 50.

(7,517 posts)That is the argument expressed over and over again on this board when talking about AA voters, even though Warren won a higher percentage of AA voters in her state than HRC did. You certainly would never question HRC's ability do win AA voters. Yet that is said about Warren. Wha'ts good for the goose ... means Biden can't win younger voters. At least accoring to Biden supporters logic.
But you are delfecting, a common tactic when the facts can't be debated.
