Biden Taunts Protestor Calling for a Freeze on Deportations: 'You Should Vote for Trump'

[link:https://www.mediaite.com/election-2020/biden-taunts-protestor-calling-for-a-freeze-on-deportations-you-should-vote-for-trump/|

By Reed Richardson Nov 21st, 2019, 9:44 pm

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden quickly cut off a protestor calling out his immigration policy during a South Carolina campaign event, dismissing the demand for an end to all deportations with a taunt: “You should vote for Trump.”

The protestor, identified by CNN reporter Eric Bradner as Carlos Rojas, interrupted Biden’s town hall in Greenwood, SC. When the candidate approached him, Rojas calmly pointed out that, while Biden was vice president: “Over those eight years, there were three million people that were deported and separated from their families.”

As Rojas began to speak again, Biden shot back “You should vote for Trump, you should vote for Trump.”

“No, no, no, I’m not going to do that,” Rojas responded, as Biden turned his back on him and walked away.

A Latina friend is at odds with her own son (who was to be a 1st time voter next fall when he turns 18), because he agrees with fellow Latinos who go protesting Dems because he feels that Dems aren't listening to him and his fellow new/young voters. He also believe that the borders should be wide open, because she said he said that America is Hispanic land which was stolen. She told her son, why not go protest republicans who are much more cruel and hateful towards you than Dems will ever be. No he told her, Dems really need Latino votes and if they don't listen to us, then we won't vote for them Yeah, that'll show thuglicans who now have the courts packed with YOUNG WWJD, right-winged, racist judges for YEARS, and if they think Dems hate them, wait for these WWJD court rulings judges to start making hideous rulings against those who think like my friends son which will go way into the future thanks to MoscowMitch and his fellow thuglicans. That's right don't even vote Son. Go protesting Dems while these right-winged, racist thuglicans make laws which will be against you simply because you're a Latino, while at the same time, they appoint judges who'll make rulings which will make your life a living HELL forEVER.

And this young kid is EXTREMELY bright--IS going to graduate as his class valedictorian (4.00 GPA). At 17 HE KNOWS his politics, but for some reason there's this disconnect where while he understands that thuglicans are currently un-America and really aren't open to diversity. He loathes tRumputin, and understands the HOLD putin has over tRump. But, he chooses to blame Dems for not hearing him or younger people. He thinks that Dems aren't listening which equals "They don't care about us." He and his Mom are at odds, because he told her that he won't vote, and many in his classes said that they won't vote either. He says he's in California and that tRump has no chance of winning it. He says he'll vote down ballot His Mom said she asked him about others his age living in other states if they decide to just not vote--do they get that if tRump gets in there for an 8 year term, they'll be nothing for them to SAVE. This country will be a Banana Republic. He said everybody has the right to vote or not vote Lord have all the mercies for young folks who think this way.

The kid's enrolled in advanced classes, and his history teacher has his class following the Impeachment hearings. The kid knows the deal. Knows and sees how childish, ignorant and treasonous thuglicans are. YET, he feels that Dems should be doing WAY more to help those who are looking for a better life, and defending the rights of ALL minorities. HOW are Dems going to 'do' anything, when thuglicans, lead by an un-American, treasonous, criminal con-man whose being threatened by putin to do his bidding to totally DESTROY the USA, OR ELSE.

My comment about the manner in which you presented the meme is exactly as I described.

That statement is fact, not opinion.

Where was the waste dumped? When was it dumped?

What was the ethnic makeup of the community it was dumped at?

What was the average household income in that area?

We’re Jane and Bernie involved?

How long after Sanders endorsed Schumlin was Jane appointed time the commission?

You can say it was started by a right wing meme. That just ignores reality.

Some things there is simply no argument for. Specially deceptively writing it off as a right wing meme. You do understand how your whole right wing meme thing can be used? An argument it does not make. Specially when it is so dishonest at face value.

I have no interest in continuing this conversation because the poster's words and the meme leaves out important context such as it was the best place for it and it was a 3 state agreement between Texas, Maine, and Vermont which your post also leaves out.

I posted the fact check article

Should we open borders and let anyone who want to come in, come in? Biden has advocated reform to our immigration laws to get smart immigration until he was blue in the face, most democrats advocate the same policy. The people gumming things up are reoublicans, they have been for a long time. It is time that people like Rojas recognize that the only way that we will get sane immigration laws is when republican officeholders are such a tiny number that their days will be spent planning their group lunch at a micro-cafe. Rojas should vote blue at all levels and encourage his friends to do the same, not try to blow up a true democrat who has been solid on immigration reform.

This type of shit does help Trump. No one wants open borders or no deportations. The protestors were stupid cowards. People have to stop protesting Biden and Warren or whoever because they are easy targets b ecause they can get into their rallies. They shyould go t0 a Republican's rally. They might get the crap beaten out of them or booed down, though. That would actually help their cause. Democrats can be so incredibly naive about how Republicans punk them.

Guess people are not to challenge Biden at all.

Candidates certainly can't. Voters can't either.

Seeing a pattern I am not liking.

I cannot imagine so many would be defending Sanders if he had done this. I know I don't when he does stuff like this. Booker just argued a point, and that was really bad, per his supporters. Biden doesn't get to be short with voters, he comes off arrogant. Condescending. I know most of us are going to probably go out and vote Biden in GE, but I sure do not like the lack of consistency with what I am seeing in Biden's campaign.

...and he responded by saying "give me a break," then went on a tirade about how millennials had it easy compared to his generation, which had accomplished so much more.

It's unforced errors like this that really worry me about Biden. Look, I'll support any Democratic nominee against Trump, but I want to make sure we have a strong one. I would have happily supported the Joe Biden of 2008 or 2012. But what I've seen from Biden this time around isn’t the enthusiastic advocate of the Obama era. What I see is more of a grumpy old man whose first impulse is to insult and dismiss anyone, even one ostensibly on the same side, coming to the table with a different viewpoint than his. This has the potential for disaster as time goes on, as enthusiasm is key to turnout in a close election, and it's hard to generate much enthusiasm among those you've denigrated, especially if it’s for no good reason.

Biden shouldn't be in this position. He has no need to be in this position. I find it to be a strategic flaw in his campaign. There was zero need for him to be there speaking in the first place. Considering his status, his campaign should be just about one hundred percent controlled. It was much more controlled to start. Politicians often react too much to polls and over fear. Biden needs to keep doing what he was doing. Control control control.
