Remember the guy who confronted Biden at a Town Hall in Greenwood SC in November?

The one who got out of his seat, walked up to Biden and got in his face? Well, it turns out that he's on the Sanders Campaign payroll! He's being PAID to disrupt Biden's town halls.

If I were to vote in a presidential

"...that he was hired as a Bernie Sanders' Latinx organizer in Iowa."

I think he is doing the disrupting on his own time.

"Rojas said Movimiento Cosecha wants Biden to acknowledge and respond to concerns over the three million deported people under Obama, and to sign onto a moratorium. During various points during his presidency, Obama stepped up deportations in an attempt to gain Republican support for a larger immigration overhaul, but that support never materialized."

"Biden, who has staked his candidacy in part on Obama’s legacy, has avoided criticizing his former boss’ immigration policies. Of 18 Democratic presidential candidates, only Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has said he would issue an executive order ending deportations — and he’s said the moratorium would only be in effect while an audit of immigration practices is completed."

Wed Jan 8, 2020, 10:48 PM

He is not going around disrupting and getting paid for it. He involved himself in a conversation. He did not set out to start this.

"Last Thursday, in a packed college gym in Greenwood, South Carolina, I stood next to Silvia, a local immigrant mother and activist, as she asked Joe Biden a question. I translated for her as she told the crowd about her daily fear of ICE separating her family. It’s hard for her to trust Biden, she explained, because he has defended the millions of deportations that took place when he was vice president. Under a Biden administration, could her partner or children be next?

Silvia asked if Biden would use executive action to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation on his first day in office. Biden bluntly said no and went on to defend Obama’s record on immigration. As a longtime activist, a 2008 volunteer for the Obama campaign, and a formerly undocumented immigrant myself, I pushed back and reminded him that millions of families were separated while he was vice president.

That’s when Biden interrupted me and said: “You should vote for Trump."

This had nothing to do with Bernie Sanders campaign.

Press Reliese from Movimiento Cosecha:

IMMIGRANT FAMILIES SEPARATED DURING THE OBAMA YEARS TO OCCUPY BIDEN’S CAMPAIGN OFFICES
Families are calling for Biden to apologize for the 3 million family separations he oversaw while in the White House, and commit to using his executive authority to end all detention and deportation on day one, if elected President. They will be joined by allies who will be sitting in at Biden’s campaign offices, refusing to leave until the campaign speaks with the families.

Philadelphia- Immigrant families whose loved ones were among the 3,000,000 deported while Former Vice President Biden was in the White House plan sit in at Biden campaign headquarters in Philadelphia on Wednesday. They are demanding Biden to apologize for separating their families, and commit that, if elected president in 2020, he would use his executive authority to put an immediate end to all immigrant detention and deportations. Families are also calling for Biden to commit to bringing home loved ones that were unjustly deported by the last two administrations.

Cosecha is a nonviolent movement fighting for permanent protection, dignity, and respect for the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Our name, "harvest" in Spanish, honors the long tradition of farmworker organizing and the present-day pain of the thousands of undocumented workers whose labor continues to feed the country. Committed to winning real victories for our community, Cosecha believes in using non-cooperation to leverage the power of immigrant labor and consumption and force a meaningful shift in public opinion.

Our movement emerged from a year and a half of strategic planning by immigrant rights and Dreamer organizers who have watched politicians battle for our votes, only to stall legislation year after year. For this reason, Cosecha doesn't rely on traditional tactics or dance with political parties. Instead, we're going on the offensive and calling for a series of strikes and boycotts to show that this country cannot function without immigrants. Our campaigns are multifaceted but all focus on building the power of the immigrant community and activating the public to our support strategy and cause.

I thought he had a chance to win Wisconsin...maybe not a great one but a chance...I have since changed my mind due in large part to these sort of underhanded tricks by surrogates he hired...the buck stops with him. I hold Sanders responsible for these things and so do others who might have supported him in the primary. He has my vote in a general but not in the primary. I have stopped the text messages from his campaign because I don't give a shit and won't send him any money...should he win the nomination...which I doubt, I will restart the texts and donate, work for the campaign and vote for him...he is better than Trump. I have no interest in his primary efforts and turn off the TV when he speaks...

Lies, disinformation, what else? Why do you need to stoop to such tactics if your campaign is about transparency? I voted for Bernie, but his actions and the people who work for him tell me a different story. A lack of continuity. What happens when he gets in office? Who will he hire? If Sirota and a couple of others are any indication, it would be a disaster.
You have got to look beyond his propaganda. What has he accomplished as a senator? He can promise you any number of things, but that does not mean he can deliver. He is actually dishonest when he tells people pie in the sky objectives. He has no plan. Have you seen a budget proposal on how to accomplish his fantasies? Unlike Warren, who actually has a plan.

Wed Jan 8, 2020, 10:42 PM
Jan 2020

isn't really Bernie himself as much as the kinds of people he attracts. I did support him in 2016 but was pretty put off by his refusal to concede even after it was mathematically impossible for him to win the nomination, and especially by his supporters who tried to disrupt the convention. I switched over to Hillary with no regrets at all. This time he seems to have attracted even more fanatical supporters who apparently would do just about anything, including GOP-style ratfucking, to be sure he wins. It's beginning to turn into something pretty close to a personality cult - there's a post right here on DU claiming Bernie is the solution to everything, and there have been plenty of others in which almost any discussion breeds knee-jerk expressions of Bernie's awesomeness. This isn't only stupid, it's downright dangerous. Trump has a personality cult. We sure as hell don't want one on our side.

He is a member or Movimiento Cosecha.

Press Release from Movimiento Cosecha:

Sirota does have something to do with his campaign strategy, and his periodic dissing of what he characterizes as "establishment" Democrats is extremely divisive, and I would suggest burns a lot of bridges for him in the primaries.

The tweet says Rojas "was hired as a Bernie Sanders' Latinx organizer in Iowa." Organizing is a different activity from confronting Biden at a campaign event. Terruso reports nothing suggesting that Rojas was working for the Sanders campaign while he was traveling to Biden events.

An accurate description of what's going on would be something more like, "Sanders campaign hires man who confronted Biden at town halls." (Or if you want to be a bit edgier, "Sanders campaign hires man who disrupted Biden events." )

There is no evidence given that the Sanders campaign paid him to disrupt Biden events.

LatinX organizer for Iowa is a bit down in the weeds.

But more importantly, there is a factual claim in the OP - that this man was paid by Sanders for the purpose of disrupting Biden events. There is zero evidence that he was paid for this purpose. The only fact about his employment with the campaign is his telling a reporter he had (apparently recently) been hired as an organizer.

There is no "benefit of the doubt" in play - the burden of proof lies with the person making the assertion. Even granting your belief that Sanders has hired toxic people and is therefore not to be trusted, there is no fact-based reason to accept the claim in the OP as true. This is my only point.

I've said it before:

Once is an honest mistake.
Twice looks like incompetence.
Three times shows a pattern.
Four times begins to suggest a strategy.

Over and over, the Sanders camp does this; I'm past the point where I'll accept "we didn't know" as an excuse.

We rightfully despise Trump for inciting his followers and failing to rebuke them; I see no reason to hold Bernie to a lesser standard.

That should be obvious from reading anything he has said.
This is a group that believes no immigrant should be deported.
That is the most extreme view possible. Polling shows only 1-3% of people subscribe to this idea of no deportations.
For Bernie to go along with that shows how extreme he is and how easily he would get defeated in a general election.

I read the article and tweet.

there is absolutely no evidence that Bernie had anything to do with this.

this guy was acting on his own about an issue that he is passionate about.

his association with Bernie means nothing.

if some volunteer for Bernie steals from a store, does that mean Bernie told him to do it?

give me a break.

this guy was acting on his own about an issue he is obviously very passionate about.

unless you can show me something that indicates that Bernie told him to do this, i consider this a lame attack on Bernie.

you can't blame Bernie for everything that all his volunteers do. and if they are getting paid to work for Bernie it means nothing at all.

guilt by association.

please don't fall into this kind of baseless attack.

anyway what he did, you're acting like he killed someone or something. give me a break. he is a little over zealous. a little too much passion is better than not enough. but regardless, if you don't like what he did, it is not correct to imply that Bernie had anything to do with it.

shameful to attack bernie for this.

maybe because you can't find an objective criticism for bernie himself, or his ideas, you have to attack him by association.

guilt by association.

today in the Vermont State House, a bunch of people walked in and disrupted the Governor's State of the State speech to protest lack of climate change action.

they had to stop the speech and even empty the house while the people were escorted out and some were processed for civil violations.

by your standards we should call the employers of all these people and tell them they should be fired.
