The ink is hardly dry on the news stories saying that Warren's supporters are flocking to Sanders.

(8,758 posts)This is net positive for Joe Biden. Not much will change until Sanders or Warren drop out. I hope its Sanders, as you can see I'm all in for Warren, but Sanders is stubborn, he'll ride this until the bitter end. Draining and splitting the left wing of the Democratic party. I think Biden will wind up the Dem nominee because of this, he needs only to sit back and let the left eat its own.

(8,758 posts)This is a big tent, we all have our space under it and should know that we share space.
I think Warren gets that. She's been a party member for a long time, she's come up the ranks with other party members, she's paid her dues, she given blood and sweat just as much as any other Democratic Party member. I think most Democratic Party members respect that and, I suspect, she respects her competitors on the same grounds.
I think, in party politics this, counts.
Sanders is always an outsider, by choice. Clearly there is space for him under the tent, he doesn't have to be in this state of constant insurgency, this is clearly a choice he makes. And the downside of that choice he will never be seen and trusted like Warren is.
Its not about left wing, moderates, or progressiveness, this is a party nomination, so reputation and respect in the party is a major factor.
It seems to me, that Sanders and his people don't get that. That they can some how wow us all with their arguments and intellectual righteousness. I find this ironic with this flap over Sander's speech leak, where he's accusing Warren of some "affluent" economic privilege and digging at Democratic intellectuals for supporting her. He is what he accuses Warren of, this is a petty hypocrisy I don't like.

(8,758 posts)For Warren or Sanders to have a shot, one or the other has to go, their politics are too identical. I agree that both are likely to hang around for a long time.
I give the edge to Warren, because she's a long time party member and has paid her dues. I think party members respect that. But a war of attrition is bad for both of them against Biden.
I have no idea what's going to happen, I'm looking forward to the early primaries to start seeing some real data. This is the calm before the storm. In a few months, its going to get intense.

(56,828 posts)Warren was first among liberals (30%), followed by Biden (22%) and then Sanders (19%)
so, you could say that Warren and Biden are splitting the liberal vote and allowing Sanders to stay in the race.

(1,812 posts)Here has been their stupid results on Bernie : August 12% ..September 12% ...October 12% .. November 13%...December 18%...January 15% ...With the exception of December , it has understated Bernie's national support by around 6% ..Bernie is around 21% -the 6% anti-Bernie has returned again. ...They claim Elizabeth generates more enthusiasm than Bernie amongst voters aged 25 - 44 ...That is a loony tunes finding ...As for their Democratic Primary sample size , it is a whopping 333 voters ...333? ..IBD is a far-right financial publication that despises Bernie . Anyone but Bernie ...
