Democratic Primaries

Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg picked up his first congressional endorsement from New York Democratic Rep. Max Rose, even though Bloomberg donated to Roses 2018 opponent.
Bloomberg gave $5,400, the maximum allowed from an individual, to GOP Rep. Dan Donovan in April 2018, Federal Election Commission documents show. The donation came two months before the June primary, when Donovan was facing a challenge from former GOP Rep. Michael Grimm. Donovan went on to win the primary and face Rose in November. Rose won by 6 percentage points.
Bloombergs campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment about his 2018 donation to Donovan. But Rose's campaign pointed to his comments late last year to NY1 about Bloomberg's donation.
"I have no problem with people who are independent thinkers and who choose to support people who are at times across the aisle," Rose said.

(2,753 posts)This makes me question his Democratic bonafides as much as his recent votes (e.g. being one of only 8 Dems to vote against war powers bill last week).

(20,629 posts)didn't realize he was still doing it in 2018!
I actually don't have an issue with Rose endorsing him, though.

(102,291 posts)I am convinced that a large segment of the military do see through (and are seething) re: Trump, his exploitation, and his idiocy on all things military, foreign affairs, and national security. In recent tv appearances and re: his vote on the Iran War resolution, Rose has left me very uncomfortable that he is not of this segment, but rather the machismo-driven, all too often Trump-defending segment of the military.
