This is not what Sanders and his campaign want to be talking about, said one Democrat.

ven by the standards of Bernie Sanders fundraising juggernaut, Tuesday was a big day: He raised $1.7 million from more than 100,000 small-dollar donors, his biggest debate-day haul of the 2020 campaign.
Sanders debate performance wasnt the driving force behind the outpouring of cash. Rather, it was largely a response to his recent tensions with long-time ally Elizabeth Warren a show of support and defiance that provides a window into the loyalty and motivation of Sanders grassroots base.

After the debate, Sanders campaign co-chair, Nina Turner, fumed to reporters about faux feminism. Online, other supporters called Warren a liar and brought up her mistatements about having Native American ancestry. And they pointed out that Sanders who has publicly advocated for women to be president for years received more money from female donors than any other Democratic presidential candidate.

(2,177 posts)She couldn't hold back her anger and do this in private. She had to march over to Sanders and act like a mom scolding a child instead of a Presidential candidate. I cannot think of a single male on that stage that would have done that, and I am a woman who has marched for women's rights and I am extremely disappointed in her behavior.

Now his campaign boasts of fundraising off that unfortunate business, and you wonder why some people (not me) call his supporters names you don't care for? Think about it.

(37,364 posts)fine for her to stand up for herself in the moment. Too many times we are given a pat on the head and told that it we I'll wait for later. I very much doubt that a confrontation by a man would have been dealt with so dismissively. I didn't see her being angry, just assertive about a wrong and trying to address it. I would rather have directness from a candidate than so much of the phone backslapping we've seen men engage in. It's what I like about Speaker Pelosi. She's fearlessly direct.

(3,855 posts)Sanders has always been attacked. And when he is the donations come in. That appears to have been part of the reason for the Bernie blackout. If the media attacked him to much it would only help Sanders. This seems no different in that regard.
However, the speed at which Warren's campaign was able to use this to fundraise this specific issue concerns me.

It's a false equivalence.
Unless you can explain why Sanders would have wanted Warren to run in 2016, unless yu can show where Sanders used racism and sexism to get votes.. your comparison falls flat.
Just because you don't like Sanders doesn't' make him trump.
I don't like Biden but I wouldn't compare him to trump.
Your post only cheapens the discourse.

In September, Sanders himself had to tweet he opposes racist bullying and harassment after some backers besieged the Working Families Party for endorsing Warren, whose advisers contend that marked the beginning of aggression against her from Sanders partisans.
That hostility increased after POLITICO reported last week that Sanders field staff was using unflattering talking points to describe Warren.
-snip-
Karen Finney, a senior Clinton adviser, said shes familiar with the reaction of Sanders supporters who rally when Sanders is attacked, especially considering how the topic that played out this week. [T]here seems to be an element of sexism, grievance and Bernie is fighting for them, she said.
Democratic women have reacted viscerally to the condemnation of Warren by Sanders backers because it reminds them so much of what happened four years ago, Finney said.
This time theyre not going to let the Bernie Bros do what they did last time, she said. Theres resentment still. Theres a scar there. And the wound reopened.

(3,855 posts)For many Sanders supporters, Warren was their second choice. By 30% which is not insignificant.
I was one of them. I did not expect Warren of all people to be so ... disappointing.
This wasn't just about Policy. It was a betrayal of who we thought she was as a person.
This also means that now Sanders is the only trustworthy candidate left in the race in my opinion, the only one who won't sell everyone out for political expediency. That kind of political expediency is what got us Trump. Even when it wins in the short term, it only sets us up for the smart Trump waiting down the line.
Which means I have to work even harder to get him into the White House.

(2,177 posts)well was trying to hurt his campaign. I don't believe it is true, but even if it was, this was only done to hurt Bernie and it was dirty politics. Like you said it wasn't about policy, it was about getting one up on Bernie and getting back up in the polls at his expense. And then the whole speech about "I don't want to fight with Bernie" , and immediately picks a fight in pubilic after the debate. It certainly made me question her judgement. So no, she is no longer my second choice.

Where the two of them were discussing who would fare better in a match up against Trump.
The kind of conversation that works best if both parties can be candid and express their thoughts freely.
And now Warren demonstrates she's either lying or betraying Sanders' confidence.
It's not a good look either way.
