win, and with diverse communities. This is why he is in the best position to unify, not around one agenda, domestic economic reform, hinging on a particular policy suite supported by one wing of the Democratic Party, but around an “idea,” as he has said, the idea of an America defined by its democratic ideals, not by class or color or religion.

He was the first candidate to take the fight to Trump and call out his moral failings, to emphasize unity when other candidates feared proposing such a naive idea, and to point out what is is at stake in the world in the wake of Trump’s anti-democracy alliances and incompetent foreign policy. Only Biden sounded the larger themes, defining the 202O election as a “battle for the soul of America” while his rivals got bogged down in policy details and plans with little hope of coming to fruition and no across the boards consensus to make them possible in the current political reality.

His rivals, chiefly Warren and Sanders, lack FP credibility, experience, and knowledge. Though Sanders should be applauded for founding a movement, and Warren for creating a consumer protection bureau from the ground up, neither has a well-rounded profile, a skill set, or job-specific background that makes their resume pop for a job that is not as a policy creator, plan proposer, primarily, but the leader of the free world, commander in chief of a super power among super powers at a time when the world is closer to a first nuclear war than ever, an event that would trigger instant climate change catastrophe, so an existential matter.

It is no wonder that Biden, with job-specific qualifications and experience, a powerful message calling to all Americans to unify around the protection of democratic values, and decades cultivating relationships with AA communities and their leaders, should be front runner in this race. While Sanders and Warren engage in open bickering based on a rip in their alliance, a questionable one to begin with, Biden comes off as the adult in the room, and a larger, more encompassing room it is.

His endorsers point to his potential, above that of his rivals, to build coalitions, being people across the nation together, and his frankly impressive record. Although he offers sound policies for making vast improvements in education, healthcare, and foreign policy, to address climate change and justice reform, and has powerfully put himself in women’s corner with the VAWA, his endorsers do not single out one proposal or an ideology it is based on in justifying their championing him among all competitors, but rather speak to his presidential qualifications, ability to lead, and above all, to unify.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Joe Biden is the candidate for this particular moment in time. And you're right, emmaverybo, that in addition to Biden's clear qualification advantage, he has taken this fight to the core element from Day 1, the corrosive and destructive nature of Trump's presidency.

The election will be an ultimatum on Trump and his incompetent, dangerous leadership. Joe Biden spotted that early and wasn't unafraid of concentrating on that overwhelming aspect, the Man Who Would Be King, the Man who has left our alliances in tatters, the Man who has bromanced every dictator in the world with a special affection for Vladimir Putin. The corruption, the fraud, the propaganda, the lack of respect for our basic institutions and the rejection of the rule of law all speak to the danger we are in, how our present and future are threatened.

Biden has stated repeatedly that this election is a battle for the soul of the nation, how the 2020 election will define us as Americans and how our place and measure in the world will be judged. For good or ill.

Joe Biden was right when he said that on Day 1. He's right now.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
