Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumJust a friendly suggestion for Sanders' opponents.
First a predicate. My buddy and I used to publish magazines, directories, and guides for business associations and chambers of commerce. That brought us in contact with many business owners, the lion's share of whom were small business owners. A lot of them invested substantial amounts of money in them, money they stood to lose when their businesses failed. The data suggests half of all small businesses will fail in the first five years, mostly from lack of capital. Anyway my buddy and I use to joke that given our knowledge of the area we could predict which businesses would fail and save these small businesses owners tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. In one instance this business owner opened up a restaurant at a location where several previous restaurants failed. It was because it was impossible to see and get in and out of. The owner had spent $600,000.00 in 2001 dollars on renovations. I told my buddy I could have told him it would fail for one hundred dollars. The running joke is they could pay us small sums to save them large sums when their businesses failed. Of course they wouldn't pay for bad news.
It was fun while it lasted but the advent of online publishing and the Great Recession killed us.
I could tell you about all the racist and bigoted shitheads we met in our endeavors but that's for another thread.
Anyhow .... My free advice....
You are not going to convince Sanders voters to abandon him. His base is solid as a rock. Best focus on everybody else...

(68,582 posts)social justice is important to me...thus Sanders gets my vote in the general only. I will say what I chose within the rules of this site. In the primary, I will work for and promote Biden and work against a Sanders nomination. Of course as I said, should he be the nominee, he has my vote.

(58,785 posts)There are far less than in 2016 because most of those who learn more about the Real Bernie Sanders move on, an ongoing process.
As for Sanders' rock-solid base, they've been studied then and now and are already once again promising not to vote for our Democratic nominee (or other Democrats) if it's not him, which it won't be.
Happily, they aren't nearly enough by themselves to get him, and them, the 300 delegates he must have to put his name in nomination. And if that doesn't happen, those of his "rock-solid" base who show up anyway will just have to vent their fury against our corruption, including calling for Sanders' opponent to be locked up, from outside the convention hall.
