Whoopi Goldberg Defends Biden Over Lucy Flores Allegations: This 'Pisses Me Off'

by Ken Meyer | Apr 1st, 2019, 11:53 am

Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain offered defenses of Joe Biden on Monday as The View discussed the new accusations of inappropriate behavior from the former vice-president.

-snip-

As Goldberg and McCain discussed how Flores’ claims don’t rise to a “MeToo moment,” the rest of the panel chimed in to discuss where the claims against Biden might be taking the movement against sexual harassment as a whole. Abby Huntsman wondered what Flores’ motives could be as she wondered if the country is heading to “this place where you can’t have normal interactions with each other.”

“Are we going to get to a place where we can’t shake hands or hug each other? I worry about that.” Huntsman said.

As Sunny Hostin praised Biden over how he responded to the allegations, Goldberg said the situation “pisses me off” and “I don’t want Joe to stop” behaving as himself. McCain followed up by calling Biden “a good, decent man,” by saying his actions are quite different from more serious instances of sexual abuse, and that Democrats have to make a decision on their standards before the furor cripples Biden’s possible 2020 run.

“For me, these things are not Democratic or Republican,” Goldberg said. “I want women to get to the place where they can say, ‘hey, you just made me uncomfortable.’ This idea that you have to tiptoe away from this, you don’t have to carry it. If someone makes you uncomfortable, tell them…you have to stop mischaracterizing stuff. Don’t sit and wait and say ‘I’m uncomfortable’ on national television.”

...however, that once you start splicing these allegations with segments of his Anita Hill questioning----there's a problem of "appearances".

Is it that he can't "get" Hill's descriptions as harassment because it's on the spectrum of his own behavior or what?

Not the more egregious accusations of course. And not that it's even the case.

But politically the two can be used together to really damage him.

Just talking politics and the way it works.

Can the Democrats afford any of this?

Biden remains the most qualified person both nationally and globally.

There are many of us who TOTALLY think Joe “gets” your question of “appearances”.

Is it damaging Anita Hill, keeps appearing on DU when everyone on DU knows the GOP will do a fine job of doing so if Joe is in the primaries?

Trump is a sexual predator who was accused of raping a 13 year old girl.
THE HORRIFYING MOMENT when we actually HEARD trump on the Access Hollywood tape saying how he sexually attacks women says they just let you do it (grab women by the P*ssy) .
There are over a dozen women who have come forward to complain of Trumps sexual attacks, So there is no comparison at all to Vice President Joe Biden.

Frankly I don’t find anything wrong with someone saying you smell good. I think it’s a compliment. How does someone smell someone without breathing it in? Why wear perfume.

Still don’t understand why a strong Democratic women wouldn’t politely turn and say Don’t. Stop. Thanks.

Speak up. It’s what we’re taught. A candidate has no process for handling these things in public? At the time?
I find that difficult.

and its as natural to them has a simple handshake may be to others. I don't think its a power trip, I don't think its sexual in any way but I do know some people are put off by it & thats human nature. I dated a girl in my youth that was the same way & her whole family was the same, lots of hugs, closeness, affection & she once apologized for it thinking it was a little too much for me but I always told her its fine, I get it, it was a loving family, pure & simple. I also think all the loss Biden has gone through over the years has amplified this, made him more compassionate to others.
