Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI voted for Bernie in the primaries last year, and for Hillary
in the general election. To date, I am undecided as to whom to support in the primaries this year. But, I will say that after this Flores/Biden kerfuffle and listening to what she said, and what he said, Flores has convinced me NOT to support Bernie again. In the hopes of beating the asshole currently occupying the White House, I think it would be best for Bernie to either drop out, or get knocked out in the first round of primaries.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bernie lost the primary and decided to go third party into the general election.
Bernie and his supporters are desperate because this is their last hurrah. There is no 2024, option, this is it.

(11,913 posts)I supported Hillary (before Bernie declared), then Bernie in the primaries, wholeheartedly supported Hillary in the election. This go round, I am leary of who is being hired in his campaign, now this. I had already decided if Biden was running, that's who I was for in the primaries. I think Biden, with an excellent choice of a running mate, is the winning ticket for us. I will vote for whoever wins the Dem nomination in the General, but I'm not throwing my support behind Bernie this go round. It's a shame because I really did like most of his platform in 2016. This other stuff is just getting in the way this time.
Another person I'm NOT for -- Gabbard. She has no business running as a right win "Dem".

(7,864 posts)I voted for Sanders in the 2016 primary as well and there is absolute zero chance in hell that I will be voting for him in the 2020 primary; in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if my primary vote was more calculating and went to candidates that were sure to beat Sanders in the primary (e.g., I don't think Biden is my #1 choice, but if it looks like it's gonna come down to him or Sanders, I am voting for Biden all the way).

I want Sanders to be soundly beaten early on in the primary and anyone that can do that will be the candidate that I vote for when my time to vote in a primary comes.

remember the Simon & Garfunkel ad... the bird landing as he spoke... it seemed magical... But I was over it before the end. I think Hillary was the best candidate and got the most votes... the Republicans would destroy Bernie. I was favoring Harris... but lately Pete... there are some great candidates. I remember people saying the Democratic "bench" was looking tried and tired... I said, just wait, there are many!

(113,052 posts)supporters are doing. I do think he has little to no control over their antics. I think he doesnt want to offend them. I wont judge Sanders personally for their bad behavior, but, do wish these organizations around his candidacy would show greater discretion and some self-restraint from the top down.
I think it is with the leaders of these satellite organizations that Sanders could and should step in and set up guidelines if their members are going to pull stunts that track back to his campaign. They are NOT doing him favors as they may think.

Sanders cannot and should not hide behind what his supporters are doing.
Sanders should not have hired Jill Stein voters to his top campaign posts.
Sanders is complicit and should take responsibility and shut his supporters down from playing dirty.

The revolution he threw open the door to is embodied in the voting publics green light to keep these issues on the table. Bernie continues to outpoll the others among younger voters. Its interesting, isnt it, that riding the trend toward these more peoples rights-oriented values allows our party to draw in so many independents to vote with us? The pull in the other direction is toward the great sucking sound of money, not people.
