"Omg, Trump supporters are backing Bernie, that means we have to ditch him and go with a moderate!"

Hillary tried the same tactic - she thought Trump would be the easiest to beat and wanted him over a Jeb Bush type. How did that work out?

Even Trump said on his secret recording with Lev Parnas he was afraid of going against Bernie.

Trump would love to face Biden. Why? Because Lindsey Graham just announced today that Giuliani is sending tons of Russian propaganda fabricated against Biden to Bill Barr to be used against Biden if he wins the nomination.

Seems there is history you're not aware of.

Two generations (maybe a generation and a half—boomers and many GenXers) where schooled to fear commies/reds/the USSR, Red China, the domino theory, failed communist collectives, socialists, etc. Many still believe that and they make up quite a large swathe of voters.

I know many who are younger (the 18-35-year-olds you speak of) say that the stigma against socialism has lessened considerably but that may just be among their cohort. There are still millions, millions of voters who detest socialism and that large swathe of voters is not going to vote for Sanders if he gets the nomination—and among those voters, you can bet, are many Democrats, not to mention independents and never-trump republicans, all of whom we need to defeat trump in November.

Do we really want to take the chance that younger voters, who just don't vote as heavily as older ones, will make up for the millions who detest socialism and things imagined about it in their minds?

That's not a good bet. Let's make the election a referendum on trump's criminality, not one on socialism and Sanders.

If I were to vote in a presidential

Joe Biden

The USSR was Communist. Bernie is no where even remotely close to that. And most of America doesn't give a crap about the Socialism label. Boomers may be bothered by it, but they're all voting for Trump anyway.

Polls have shown that being labeled a Democrat actually hurts a candidate more than being labeled a Socialist.

supposed to use it...although many did....it was a ruse but still not something she was supposed to do...different rules for her of course. I am speaking of the General not the primary by the way. Hillary was not supported sufficiently in the primary by Sanders either IMHO. But the Biden stuff is already out there. The GOP are waiting to pounce until as they hope Sanders wins the nomination...which I hope never happens as we may lose the house and the presidency...sure he has my vote...but I think Trump gets four more years.

The reason I think this is true is that this is a center left at best country...and while Sanders many win a primary... he won't win a general. And before you ask...the mid term where moderates flipped house seats provide compelling evidence.

Trump challenged Bernie Sanders to a Debate
And Sanders called his bluff. He said yes

Immediately Trump backed out.

Even before the audio leaked of Trump saying he was afraid of Sanders, that told me Trump didn't want to face Sanders. Trump's usual bag of tricks doesn't work.

As for S Carolina, personally I doubt it will happen. Conspiracies are much harder to pull off when you need literally thousands of co-conspirators to pull them off.
