If the primary were between only Bernie and Bloomberg, who would you vote for?

That, in light of the recent tapes that came out:

Do you also remember how he threatened to run as an Independent in 2016 if Bernie Sanders won the Democratic nomination? Bloomberg is everything this board is supposed to loathe.

Bloomberg is not my ideal of a Democratic candidate.

We have a slate of actual Democrats running. Excellent people all. Why not nominate one of them?

I'll take Biden any day over Bloomberg and Biden is my least favorite choice.

If you think Trump has been teflon Don, wait until you get a guy in power with actual money and brains. At least Trump is incompetent.

You think you will have ANY control over what a President Bloomberg does?

You think you will have ANY chance of getting progressive programs passed?

I don't.

Tue Feb 11, 2020, 12:42 PM
Feb 2020

None of the suspects' DNA matched the DNA collected from the crime scene (two semen samples that both belonged to one unidentified man)
No substantive physical evidence connected any of the five teenagers to the crime and years later a person serving a life sentence for rape matched the DNA and confessed he did it alone was my understanding . The biggest evidence was forced confessions

Saying if the courts ruled that way ....
And go read about it yourself is not a good answer imo

Right now the polls seem to show both COULD.

This will (hopefully) be a "redemptive" election, but unlikely to be "dream candidate"... Frankly, I doubt I will live long enough to see all that I'd like to see in an ultimate successful candidate. I'll take whoever can effectively reverse much of the damage and give us an opportunity to get back on track for democracy. "Righting the ship" may well not include dramatic change in the next four years in the direction of the most highly progressive policies. Sometimes you have to start with stanching the blood loss.

But I just do not see anything other than a blowout victory for Trump if he's our nominee. I come from the Midwest and I live on a coast, so I'm familiar with Democrats and Independents in both places... if it was just the edges of the country who got to vote, I'd prefer Bernie, but people in the middle get to vote, too, and we need a candidate who can beat Trump there as well.

I suspect Bloomberg has the highest chances to defeat Trump and usher in a Democratic Senate. That's most important.

As for their policies I'd prefer someone who was emulating a Nordic social democrat (think Warren) over Bernie who is essentially a Democratic Socialist (social ownership). Why? Free enterprise is a large component of what made America great.

So, I'd be leaning Bloomberg, but I do like Bernie's healthcare and college policies.
