Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumA number of reasons why Joe did bad in IA and NH but.....
I think that hurt him the most was the impeachment fight. I think voters are seeing the candidates with less baggage has a real chance of winning. Hunter Biden sitting on the board of Brishisma with no experience is seen as corruption in many voters eyes. They think Trump will probably gain advantage off of that and be seen as the anti corruption candidate. I think given the email nonsense from 2016 may have cost Clinton because it was seen as corruption and they don't want a repeat of 2016 with Biden this time. Just my thoughts on things.

So do some of the other leading contenders.
We need new leadership.

(301 posts)Frankly I'm doubting he's getting the best advice on a lot of things.
Why the low-key approach so far?
Why the sudden attack on Pete?
Why leave NH on primary day suddenly?
None of this is making sense to me now.
I though Joe would come in #1 or #2 in NH, but then he leaves in the middle of the day. Who is guiding him is my question.
And why is everyone who supported him now seems to be drifting to a Republican Billionairre ... we haven't even got to SC yet and you're moving your chips onto a Republican Billionairre.
Maybe things are too complex for me now.

(1,253 posts)I'm a home visiting Physical Therapist, working in Los Angeles. I have a lot of elderly African American patients, and though I avoid talking politics on the job, I recently had a 72 year-old black woman from Compton ask me who I am supporting. I told her I support Bernie, but that I liked Warren as well, and would support her as well. This led to a short discussion about the other candidates, and when Biden came up she said " He's got nothing other than "I'm friends with Barack Obama", if he thinks that's all he needs to get black votes he's a damn fool", at which point her brother, sitting in the other room, yelled "Preach!" I can't argue their point....They are both supporting Warren but said they'd be happy with backing Bernie if he gets the nod.

I wouldn't have spent a thin amount of resources in those areas either seeing they are not WTA.
Spend the resources shoring up a better representative races and a more representative demographic.

(10,721 posts)He's doing better this year than he did in his previous attempts to get nominated, but I always viewed him as a very weak frontrunner with collapse all but inevitable.
Biden's baggage goes back much further than impeachment. To this day, Anita Hill thinks he owes the nation an apology. There's also the bankruptcy bill and more. And Biden has a long history of gaffes (no, not stuttering, but saying really stupid shit).

(14,565 posts)I really like Joe Biden. I don't want to say anything negative. I've always doubted he'd be the nominee, simply because I thought of that Bob Dole comparison so quickly and easily, and I can't imagine the party going that route, not amidst the passion to evict Trump.
Joe Biden's best chance would have been 2016 if Sanders had not entered the race. I realize that's multiple changeups from how it played out. If Biden had decided to contest Hillary and Sanders had not screwed up the perspective and the distribution, then the pro-Obama and anti-Hillary forces in the party -- largely one in the same -- might have narrowly given the nod to Biden. If so, I have little doubt he would have defeated Trump.

(7,637 posts)....unfortunately. I like Biden, think he is a decent man, and a smart, dedicated politician. He always has had gaffes, and still does. I was shocked that he came in so far down the line in New Hampshire. He's been on my favorite list from the first, although I have chosen others to root for at this time.
