I'm out on Bloomberg- recent donations to Republicans

Last edited Sat Feb 15, 2020, 07:17 PM - Edit history (1)

On MSNBC it’s reported he just recently donated to Republican campaigns to help them get elected

Pat Toomey - Susan Collins - Pete King - Orrin Hatch

I live in PA. Pat Toomey is garbage. I can never support someone who helped elected Pat Toomey.

This guy is not a real democratic candidate. We have plenty of other good candidates. No need to vote for a wolf in sheep cloths

I’m making a mental note of everyone supporting or defending Bloomberg for when the inevitable time comes that these very same posters want to use the argument that anyone is racist or sexist etc,

To be so easily able to dismiss the factual reports of racism and sexism from Bloomberg because it apparently serves the higher goal of this one particular important election is the ultimate proof of someone’s moral character.

The reason progressives don’t get along with moderates is precisely because of something like this Bloomberg predicament, why are moderates ALWAYS willing to concede more and more and more of not only progressive policies but now even the moral convictions we as a party have stood by 50 years?

I’m making a list of people who show no shame in being hypocritical on issues of racism and sexism when it comes to Bloomberg for the very next time they decide to make racism and sexism an issue against someone they don’t like.

Obviously I will vote for the Democratic nominee, even if hypocritical people force Bloomberg on us as the nominee.

But being forced to vote for him because his direct opponent is Trump is not what we as a party should be forcing down the throats of democratic supporters who have principles and core beliefs about racism and sexism.

point its not hypocrisy with you but pragmatics.

We know all we need to know about who said what and when. We all have evolved our stand through the years.

We know who the candidates are and what we really need is an end to constantly repeated snipes and get down to policy and save the invective and moral outrage for Donnie Two Scoops.

I, just like Hillary Clinton worked in our first campaigns for Barry Goldwater.

Yes we can go after Donnie, but no way should we sacrifice our principles in support of Bloomberg just because he has money to run ads and troll trump.

Accepting and rationalising the countless upon countless racist and sexist quotes and policies from Bloomberg that keep coming to light every day doesn’t help us to defeat Donnie, it weakens us because when we give up our democratic core principles in the pursuit of a higher goal, we can’t just credibly pick them up when it suits us again and expect to be taken seriously when we call out either racism or sexism in future.
