Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumBernie needs to stop his false equivalence between Democrats and Republicans.
He doesn't deserve any Democrats' votes when he seems determined to destroy the party.
We have Democrats in Congress in vulnerable districts across the country, who are HURT by Bernie's selfish attempt to link both parties' "establishment" as a way to build his brand.
From the ad he's pushing all over FB right now, asking for money.
We are taking on the Democratic establishment.
We are taking on billionaires, super PACs, the corporate media, and the whole damn 1 percent..
And he claims he's taking on super PACS. That's a joke, since he set up Our Revolution, and Our Revolution -- which is not transparent -- is still backing Bernie. ANYBODY could be donating money to help Bernie through Our Revolution and we wouldn't know it because it's dark money.

Shadow group provides Sanders super PAC support he scorns
The campaign finance act says groups directly or indirectly established by federal officeholders or candidates cant solicit, receive, direct, transfer, or spend funds for federal electoral activity that exceeds the limitations, prohibitions, and reporting requirements of the law. Those limits are currently set at $2,800 for candidates and $5,000 for political action committees.
Our Revolution has taken in nearly $1 million from donors who gave more than the limits and whose identities it hasnt fully disclosed, according to tax filings for 2016, 2017 and 2018. Much of it came from those who contributed six-figure sums.
It wont have to publicly reveal its 2019 fundraising until after this years presidential election. And money it raises between now and then wont have to be disclosed until the following year.
Any entity established by a federal officeholder can only raise and spend money under federal contribution limits for any activities in connection with a federal election, said Paul S. Ryan, a campaign finance expert and attorney with the good-government group Common Cause. Our Revolution was undoubtedly established by Sen. Sanders, is subject to these laws and is seemingly in violation of them.

(628 posts)Have you not noticed that every time we bash the Democratic Party, the kleptocrats win? Maybe not the election, yet, those already very fat cats win.
The Republican Party is long gone; it has transformed into a wholly owned kleptocratic entity.
Conversely, as recently demonstrated for ALL to see in the impeachment trial, the Democratic Party has persisted in resisting kleptocratic takeover
Why wouldn't we, the American people, reward the democrats for that?
Alternative facts are not necessary to win.
Rhetoric from the 1960's, "the democratic establishment", "revolution," how heavy, man!, is most assuredly not necessary to win. Most folks are simply not stuck in a time warp.
Are their democrats who bug you?
I have a reminder, his name was Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska. He was a democrat; today, Nebraska (an otherwise sane state) has two GOP senators.
What was Senator Nelson's horrible "democratic establishment" offense?
The cornhusker kickback.
What was that? It saved the people of Nebraska the cost of Obamacare while conveying the benefits.
"Wait!" Some cry, "that is bad!"
Is it? Ben Nelson made a deal THAT BENEFITED HIS CONSTITUENTS, not himself.
The GOP makes deals that BENEFIT THEMSELVES & THEIR DONORS, not its constituents.
I'd take Ben Nelson over any GOP senator any day.
We need to help the Democratic Party stand up against this kleptocratic onslaught! Stabbing the Party in the back helps not one person in this struggle.

Feel free to ignore or trash the threads or find something else to do with your time if they're so tiresome.
He's the perceived front-runner. This is what happens to front-runners. Happened to Biden. Happened (briefly) to Warren.
If he wins the nomination, this will seem like a cakewalk compared to what's coming up. Might want to get used to it and buckle up.

Bernie himself is firmly part of the establishment; he's been an incumbent for many years. He just wants to pretend that he isn't.
You seem to be also unaware that he voted against holding gun manufacturers to the same product liability laws that affect other manufacturers. Many people have been harmed by guns.

(20,590 posts)if president. Sanders is a lone wolf - that is his personality. He will always set himself apart from others and slam Democrats as much as republicans. That is what he does. The Democratic party stands for a lot and as we have seen, more than a few have earned our respect in the face of trump.
He is a purist who sets himself above, just like fundamentalists of other stripes.
