Gabbard calls for suspension of Japan, South Korea flights amid coronavirus fears

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is calling for a suspension of flights to Hawaii from South Korea and Japan amid growing concerns about the coronavirus.

“It is irresponsible for our leaders to endanger the health and well-being of Hawaii’s people by continuing to allow travel from Japan and South Korea," Gabbard said, in a statement Wednesday.

“I know there will be economic hardship, but it will pale in comparison to the cost in lives and economic damage to Hawaii and our country if we don’t suspend travel from these countries.”

Personally I think the numbers are so small that it hardly is a danger at all.

But the thing is, the thing spreads so easily that IF my son caught it, we ALL would have to stay in quarantine and -frankly- becoming a potential vector for this thing becomes a societal issue at some point.

As my wife says, and I guess she's right, it is IRRESPONSIBLE people that are largely endangering others.

And Japanese tourism is HUGE for the state, this could be a pretty problematic prospect.

Seems like an overreaction at this point frankly. Though screenings for all visitors from affected areas seems prudent.

Pretending to be doing her job which she is still collecting g 165k/year and she isn’t working.

Her proposal would fuck Hawaii’s economy up to the max with no evidence supporting the action.

She’s working for chump. He wants to hurt us because we’re a blue state.

Anyway Hawaiian Airlines just suspended service to South Korea.
Which makes sense.
