They don't like the party establishments. So when Sanders or AOC tweaks them, gets attention and leaders have to respond to their ideas, it makes them popular. It's a sign of our crazy times. When things get crazy, fringe figures can force their way to the center. Our teeth gnashing here is good for him in the real world.

Guess the critics were wrong in their assessment that his supporters from 2015/16 has abandoned his cause in favor of someone more moderate. *grin* Still a long way to go before the Iowa caucasus and lots of things can happen. The Democrats have a great line up in this cycle and should the front runner stumble, there is a Plan B and if needed a Plan C....unlike the Republicans....who only have Plan Trump.

Imagine one million volunteers - six states don't have that many people living within its borders - Wyoming or even Bernie's home state of Vermont.

Some people don't seem to understand that. Bernie is not running against a political juggernaut this time, someone who managed huge margins over Barack Obama in major states. This time Bernie is running against a bunch of people named Joe...completely unproven in terms of winning the nomination or even threatening to do so.

I have never been a Sanders supporter. But it is very true you won't find many negative appraisals of him anywhere. On the political sites dominated by right wing males there is seldom if ever a negative thread or post regarding Bernie Sanders.

Of course, that would change if he's on target to be the nominee. He has that opportunity if he takes control of the Democratic debates and becomes the overpowering media obsession based on those debates, like Trump in the 2016 Republican debates. Suddenly none of the conventional wisdom early math mattered any more on the GOP side once Trump became the buzz. Many people were fooled, including Nate Silver.

It is much simpler to project a destination for a normal politician, than it is for someone like Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders. I never ignore that as a gambler. It is the same reason I don't use the New England Patriots for reference points. They defy all logical trends.

Last I checked he's polling above the other candidates with non-white voters, which is an excellent sign of progression from 2016. Whether that will translate into victory in the south is another question of course (long way to go before we can predict that) but its a promising sign that he recognized his weakness and spent these last years working to fix it. NV isn't (or at least shouldn't be) a massive danger to him, he was very close there last time around.

I am, of course, a Bernie supporter. However, I will make my final decision during or after the debates.

I want ALL of the candidates to speak, even to argue. This will result in the Dem party moving further left.

I don't believe that the Dem party should chase voters in the center. The party should stand strong in the progressive realm, and give center voters reasons why they should move left on issues such as equality, health care, minimum wage, climate change, and peaceful (as opposed to warful) international relationships.

And while Sanders has learned to make the occasional statement that suggests growth, he continues to stick his foot in his mouth, which people will be reminded of once the actual campaign gets going.

And once the actual campaign gets going, there are going to be many options presented to those who right now have only heard of Sanders and Biden. This time, Sanders won't be in a 1-on-1 race against someone who was vilified for 25 years.

Mostly, what I am supporting is a further leftwards shift in the Dem party spurred on by a series of robust debates among progressives. (Centrists need not apply.)

The more voices we have arguing for issues like minimum wage, climate change, equality, world peace, fair taxation, etc., the better.

Bernie needs to release those tax forms to silence the shallow, yet growing concerns of his critics.

I like that he (okay, his communications staff) realistically emphasizes the importance of the movement rather than himself or the Presidency alone, as usual.

And the truth is no candidate and no president, not even the greatest president you could possibly imagine, is capable of taking on all of those industries and all of those groups alone.

But together, we can create a nation that leads the world in the struggle for peace and for economic, racial, social and environmental justice.

Together, we can defeat Donald Trump and repair the damage he has done to our country.

Brothers and sisters, if we stand together, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.

It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation...

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail towards freedom through the darkest of nights...

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness...

It was the call of workers who organized, women who reached for the ballot, a president who chose the moon as our new frontier, and a king who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the promised land...

We will remember that there is something happening in America, that we are not as divided as our politics suggest, that we are one people, we are one nation.

And, together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story, with three words that will ring from coast to coast, from sea to shining sea:

YES, WE CAN.
