I am very proud of Mayor Buttigieg.

Ending his campaign tonight is his badge of honor. He is a true patriot. His message is for people not to waste their vote. Democracy is on the ballot.

I am happy that I voted for him.

My Heart is a little broken.

Pete Buttigieg is a good man.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

One thing I do know is that we have not seen the last of him. He truly is the future of our party....no.....of our country! I want to vote for him as President one day....maybe in 4 or 8 years I can!

As a gay man I cannot express how inspiring and gratifying it’s been to see him make history. And I am stunned and amazed the people of Iowa could see past his gayness and see the man. It really gives me great hope for this country.

THANK YOU MAYOR PETE!

Sun Mar 1, 2020, 07:53 PM

In 2014, Mayor Pete began his deployment at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. Buttigieg joined the US Navy Reserve through the direct commission officer (DCO) program & was sworn in as an Ensign in naval intelligence in September 2009. In 2014, he took a 7 month leave during his mayoral term to deploy to Afghanistan. While there, Buttigieg was part of a unit assigned to identify and disrupt terrorist finance networks. He served at Bagram Air Base, but he was also an armed driver for his commander on more than 100 trips into Kabul. Buttigieg has jokingly referred to this role as "military Uber", because he had to watch out for ambushes and explosive devices along the roads and ensure that the vehicle was guarded. In order to better communicate with the local Afghans, he learned some Dari (a dialect of the Persian language). Buttigieg was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Meda and resigned his commission from the U.S. Navy Reserve in 2017.

38. He'll be back.

Mar 2020

The best thing he has going for him, among MANY good things, is TIME. He’s still young. He’s got a long runway ahead of him.

He’s also got plenty of time to connect in a meaningful way with black voters. And by the time he considers another run, the other thing that may make some voters hesitate, “the gay,” will have faded even more than it already has, and even people who might be bothered by that will be even smaller than the level to which it’s already fallen.

He’s not over, by any stretch of the imagination. We’ll hear him again. And I look forward to that.

He ran a campaign as decent as he himself is. That was noticed and deeply appreciated. And he’ll be a party leader, and a future leader of/for ALL America.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

day for us all I'm sure. Mr. Buttigieg is an outstanding young man and I can only hope that the campaign didn't sour him on running in SOME capacity in the future. Senator ..... Governor .... a high level Cabinet position. To tell the absolute truth I was rooting for a Warren/Buttigieg ticket. Guess its still possible but I'm starting to get a mite discouraged. No matter what though I'd vote for a rabid weasel before I'd stay home THIS election cycle. On second thought ..... that's what we have squatting in our White House at the moment so...... a rabid ferret perhaps? ;D

and I hope he has a bright future ahead in our party.

This election cycle was extra exciting for me to see a Dem candidate of my race (Kamala) and of my generation (Pete) running for president and doing well in debates and town halls.

I'm sure LGBT DUers were excited too.

There are lots of glass ceilings in our country and even though our party is going to nominate a white grandfather this year, at least our side puts some cracks in some glass ceilings.

I am a little sad about this. I liked hearing his take on things. I'm sure he'll continue to be a voice but I'll miss the regularity.

I'm not surprised at the eventual result but was by the timing.

I think it was a wonderful beginning on the national stage by someone who seems destined to achieve great things. We're blessed to have him. I think he will be a great President someday.

I'm very proud of him and his campaign.

He amassed a big following. His husband Chasten was an inspiration throughout his campaign, too. Each day, Chasten would post on twitter about something positive or uplifting. What an amazing first man he would be.

I dared to dream of Pete winning when his popularity and donations soared. I couldn't believe it was happening.

His exit from the race is sad. But his rise is a remarkable story that will be part of American (and gay liberation) history forever. He made me proud to be a democrat.
