all required to take GOVERNMENT in high school. I believe they removed that requirement the late seventies or early eighties. Young Bernie supporters don't seem to understand how our government works. They seem to think presidents execute, legislate and adjudicate. it's almost as if they want a Trump from the left. They also resent highly qualified well educated experienced career officials and political appointees.

They don't seem even with the mess Trump has made of the federal govt that we need a person who can garner the best people for his executive leadership team.

We have a BASIC knowledge of democracy and understand electing a president is not like voting someone off the island. It's a civic duty that requires critical thinking and a deeply held belief in the common good. How the candidate makes YOU feel is more appropriate for a fan club. Not an election and certainly not this election.

to discourage me from supporting who I think is the best candidate. Otherwise, we are capitulating to sexism rather than confronting it.

It's a characteristic of white and male privilege that folks claim to be nonsexist/nonracist until standing up against discrimination entails risk.

So, was it belief in the common good that motivated Boomers to elect Bushes, Reagan, and Trump? Did those principles learned in American government hold up?

I'll take young folks' reasoning over the sordid legacy of Republican backsliding led by Boomers since 1980.

Maybe our “grip” on the Party has something to do with always voting.
Something apparently other “groups” don’t do enough to change the “grip”.

We aren’t the ones talking revolution. What revolution was ever won by asking the other side just move on.

No thanks. Hopefully me and “my kind” will be around much much longer than my parents generation. My dad lived to 93.
With science I may be around to disappoint young folks until they become the youths target. That will happen you know. Then they can complain even more.
