What would you like to see change with the next election?

Personally, I would like to see the divisiveness stop. I would like to see our people return to a feeling of security and safety.

I would like to see the anxieties and fears dissipate from the population as a whole. I would like to see a leader that could restore confidence in the government and lead the nation in a competent way.

I would like to see the adolescent name-calling, the lies, and the tweeting all cease. I think that would do our country well?

I would like to see a leader that stands up for our country.

I would like to see someone that could work with others to fix the problems that confront our nation.

I would like to see a country that did not threaten the rest of the world.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Kidding,

I'd like to see trust in America again and our institutions. It would be nice to see our leaders actually put America first, not their own business interests or cronies or Russia. I'd like to see competent qualified leaders in charge of federal agencies who are capable of independent thought and won't just go along with whatever the president tells them. The Federal Reserve should work towards economic stability, not just boosting the stock market. And much more spending on infrastructure: roads, bridges, trains, mass transit systems, etc. And less war.

I want our party's leaders to fight hard for the things we believe in and resist Republican obstruction more effectively.

Run the Presidential election like all other elections are run: one person, one vote.

Get rid of gerrymandering, Delegates, Conventions, and the Electoral College.

And it might be a good idea to change primary ballots. Make it so we can indicate our favorite, second-favorite, etc. This will eliminate 'wasted' votes if a candidate drops out after people voted early for them... their second choice would automatically move up a notch. (There's a name for this process, but I can't recall it at the moment.)

9. Quick list

Mar 2020

1. No caucuses. Period. Ever again. They are *NOT* democratic, and they are a horrible way to select candidates.

2. Rotate the order of which states go first. Have 4 states go on the first Tuesday in February every cycle ON THE SAME DAY, and rotate which 4 states those are every cycle. Have one of the states from each region of the country: One south, one northeast/mid-atlantic, one midwest, and one west.

3. All paper ballots everywhere.

4. Every candidate must have been a registered Democrat for at least 5 years to be eligible to run for the party nomination.
