There is a large table in the middle of the room. It's the ladies GOP auxiliary group. They're laughing because a few of them are telling a story, bragging about voting for Sanders during the absentee in person vote at the courthouse. They're saying Trump will smash "that communist".
The hinky votes are happening. Keep your eyes and ears open.

(4,723 posts)I have no idea who Springfield will go for. We have multiple colleges here, so Sanders might get support from there as well. He won the Greene County primary in 2016. I think Ted Cruz won that year too.

(24,653 posts)Fortunately, I live in a state with closed primaries. But still I overheard some idiots in a bar in Orlando a few weeks ago talk about switching their party affiliation in time to vote for Sanders in the Democratic primary to screw with the "dumbocrats." Here's hoping their Sunday afternoon tipsy rambling didn't lead to action.
ETA: Even if they did follow through, no, I do not actually believe enough Republicans would bother to do it and have any sort of real impact on the overall results throughout the state.

(945 posts)and it's not limited to any one party. I know of people who crossed over to vote for Trump in the 2016 primaries because they believed him to be the easiest candidate to beat. Yes, there might be thousands of people who do this across the country and it could change some delegate math but I do not see it having any significant impact on the outcome.

(11,306 posts)(although probably more prominent now with our political "leaders" calling for it on TV) And I'm not really sure how much overall impact the phenomenon has .. then or now. Pretty sure the party people have done the calculus .. and decided in favor ...
But I'd also like to point out that there's a difference (and always has been) between a person that puts a campaign sign in his own yard .. and one that goes around stealing and defacing the ones in others. At least to my mind. It's the same argument.
