Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumSo, What is Biden's plan for the Coronavirus? It's now an election issue
Coronavirus will be with us for at least a year.
The issue now is an election issue.
Warren has a plan to deal with it and the long-lasting repercussions to come.
What's Biden's plan? Is he simply going to copy Warren's HW assignment here?

(92,187 posts)closed down to deal with pandemics. Restore funding to the CDC. Insure screening is free, and vaccines when available, along with proper care to those who are infected
Those were the highlights

(1,584 posts)This is where Biden is falling short. As well as the other candidates.
Warren has a comprehensive plan for today.

(92,187 posts)that Warren has addressed all aspects of the crisis in great detail, and do not understand why she lost the momentum when she was gaining in the polls

(67,782 posts)Talking about a plan here in March that as President she wouldn't even be in a position to even begin implementing until 11 months from now isn't doing anything today.

At least Warren is pressing the issue. Just like she did with impeachment. Just like she did with boycotting Fox News. She has consistently lead the field. Others have just followed.
Biden, with his momentum and increased press coverage has been pissing it away by not having a strategy to address this issue and attack Trump. That is a glaring example of his leadership.

(10,051 posts)With Ebola virus and H2N so I think he probably knows better than any other candidate what to do. He will follow Obama's previous plans and likely bring back the people with the knowledge, listen to them and allow them to keep the public engaged.

(1,584 posts)Biden lacks vision. Obama isnt going to move into the White House and hold Bidens hand.

(10,051 posts)Why would he have to lay out a policy when in fact it would be to go back to what works. It is about meeting with the experts to lay out the plan, not him alone. To put people on the spot and say what are you going to do about it, when he is not in a position to be given the information to make a decision, is just a ridiculous argument.I would rather someone be given all the information to provide an informed plan than rattle something off on the top of their head.

If he doesnt know what to do he should not be running.

(10,051 posts)as I said, he has been here before, but he would want the information, just because Bernie rattles off BS on the top of his head, without telling anyone how he will actually make it happen, most would want the information that is not available because the current Bullshitter is not allowing it out there. I want a thoughtful leader not someone who will tell the truth, not just something off the top, and that firstly is finding out where the situation really is. He is the ONLY one that has done this before.

(23,018 posts)We need a plan to
1. Determine the extent of the infection; we still are blind on this
2. Determine travel between states that should be controlled
3. Provide guidance to local hospitals; they still dont know how to handle new untested cases
4. Provide prioritization guidelines for state and regional hospitals
5. Provide assurance that testing and treatment of those who are sick from the virus are covered for medical care
6. Provide supplies in areas impacted by travel restrictions
7. Provide economic stimulus package that will be needed to deal with the fall out
If you were paying attention youd know Warren has this covered.

(58,785 posts)start by appointing a very competent administrator of HHS and others for related agencies, and instructing them and others in and out of government to provide the comprehensive plan theyv actually already started putting together in anticipation. We can be sure most of this will take place before he takes office.
Being a very competent president does not mean knowing everything and making all decisions by by on self Trump-style and certainly not politicizing it by turning whatever the future situation will be into campaign promises prematurely.
It means having a good understanding of a problem in general, having a good general notion of the many complexities and how theyre going to have to be attacked, knowing the right people to appoint to head that up, and providing them with the authority and mandate to do their job.
And that all is why Biden is a good choice for president. You can count on a man of integrity not to promise now details of what he will do then, only that he is ready to hit the ground running and will do the job we need him to do.
