Bernie just had a press conference, in which he accused,

complained, argued, and then complained some more.

I watched it, until a reporter asked him what he thought of Bloomberg's withdrawal and endorsement of Biden.

Bernie blinked a couple of times, swallowed, and said, "He did?"

Apparently, Bernie is not keeping up with the news today. I stopped watching at that point, realizing that Bernie Sanders is no longer relevant to the 2020 election.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I don't know if he has a body person who goes everywhere with him. If not, he should. Someone needs to tell him all the information he must know before he steps out to take questions.

I'm reminded of Amy Klobuchar's biggest gaffe this campaign season. She appeared on an interview panel with a Telemundo person as one of the questioners. That person asked her if she knew who the President of Mexico was. She fluffed that question. Now, she probably knows who Obrador is, but it wasn't at the top of her tongue. It should have been though, because she knew Telemundo would be there. She didn't prep properly, or someone didn't prep her properly.

On such small errors, elections are lost. Every major candidate need a body person to keep reminding them of things they need to know. Bernie must not have one, or not have a very good one.

If I were to vote in a presidential

5. He has been in politics long enough to know how it goes, really.
Wed Mar 4, 2020, 03:58 PM
Mar 2020

I think he doesn't necessarily pay close enough attention to what is happening in the world, really. He's been through one primary election season, and lost. But, he doesn't seem to have learned from that experience, since he's doing the same things he did the last time, and making the same mistakes.

He doesn't adjust to changing situations, but just keeps right on plodding down the same path, looking neither to his left or his right, but only straight ahead and down at the path in front of him. I know how that goes, at age 74, myself. If I don't look down at where my foot will land next, I could trip and fall, I suppose.

Not knowing about Bloomberg means that he didn't listen to any news today. No TV. No briefings from his staff. He just plowed into yet another campaign speech, with the same complaints and bickering.

Bernie Sanders is no longer relevant to this primary race. He'll plod along anyhow, but he won't catch up again. It has moved on at a faster pace than he can manage.

We need to move on. The voters are telling us how to proceed, I believe. They spoke yesterday, and they will speak again next Tuesday.

Many of the people who support Bernie Sanders are not really Democratic voters. They are something else, entirely. They don't want to regain some stability. Instead, they want to disrupt any stability that exists. They would rather have four more years of Trump than compromise on even one issue in order to defeat him.

Those are the 10% of Sanders supporters who are in it for a different reason than the rest of us are. They are the ones who mocked Pete Buttigieg with a dance that called him out for being a gay man. They are the disruptors of other candidate's events, but then scream bloody murder about someone carrying a Biden sign at a Bernie event.

They are not our friends in any way. They are why Bernie loses, and Bernie can't see it, or condones it. I don't know which.

We need to move on and away from those disputes and go after votes in November. We cannot count on some hardline Bernie supporters to help us. They won't.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

We are going to nees all hands on deck to get Trump out of the white house.

I said this while Sanders was the frontrunner too, before that comes up, check post history as desired. I just want Democrats to rescue this country from 45 at all costs and I think our chances are far, far better together than apart.

I can't help but noticed you stepped over the main thrust of the point I was hoping to make. Did you have the same reaction to the ageism volleyed at Biden where folks called him out as meandering and incoherent (when he, in my opinion, was not)? I don't think we have room for that stuff and I don't think we have room for all the posts mocking Vermont, 78-year-olds, etc.

Dislike Sanders? Fair enough. Disagree with him on policy? Fair enough. But why make it intentionally harder for his supporters to come our way? Take a quick spin through this thread to see what I'm referring to, which is NOT coming from you personally but from others on this thread and several other threads I caught between things today.

I think he's going to regret to Warren a long time ago when he said he didn't think a woman can be president. In her statement today she seemed to be sad that there is no longer a woman in the race. I would not be surprised if she endorsed Biden.

Being up to speed (or at least being able to seem like you are) is a key part of being POTUS. Even his advisors dropped the ball on this, the events of yesterday (others dropping out and supporting Biden) should make an aspiring candidate think strategically about what might happen next (i.e., who else might drop out and who they might support). Having a talking point or strategy in your back pocket for contingencies is a pretty basic requirement.

I hope we're ready come November because some last minute phone calls from President Obama aren't going to save us from the shitshow that's being prepared on the other side. Do you really think the Biden campaign is ready for that? Do you think alienating roughly half of the people who voted in our Dem primaries by espousing the gloating attitude in the OP is going to help with that? Biden won some primaries yesterday. Before that he was nowhere. He couldn't fill a room. Acting like we've got this isn't gonna cut it. try to use fear to ram your candidate down my throat all the while excoriating other candidates who dont want those judges either?
I'd like a candidate who wants to make sense of our health care system.
I'd like a candidate who is interested in doing something about our very real gun problem.
I'd like a candidate who feels that if people and businesses do well under our system that they should pay their fair share and give a little back instead of placing the burden on people who have little to no resources.
We have or at least had better cadidates. Why are we here again? Ask yourself that.

Bernie's hero is Socialist Eugene Debs, not FDR. Bernie has spent his entire adult life bashing the Democratic Party.

Bernie made a glowing documentary of Debs in which Bernie does the voice over for Debs' speeches, including the one where he says both the Democratic and Republican Parties are equality opposed to workers rights:

Bernie admiringly recites Debs speeches from memory:

The fact is, despite Bernie's misleading statements, socialism is not what Denmark has. Denmark is a free market capitalist economy with a robust safety net. When Sweden tried Debs'/Bernie's brand of socialism, their economy tanked, they didn't create any jobs, and they ended up having to reverse coarse:

to quit. Sanders and Biden led all the primaries. For them to continue would have cost more money than they could raise. They became second tier in one night.

Natural for both to endorse Biden. Similar political positions. Plus, a desire for party unity to defeat Trump. I am sure they both thought about it before the polls opened and set some bottom line criteria for how to handle the outcome.

I hope he doesn't endorse for a little while longer. Let Biden earn it on his own and rack up a bigger delegate lead and then when it gets close to inevitable come out with one and seal the deal. If he endorses too soon that will piss off the Sanders supporters but he will go a long way toward party unification when the time comes.

I have heard and read that Obama says he will not make any endorsements before the orimaries are done and then will endorse the chosen candidate. There are good reasons for that.

Given the extreme antagonism toward Obama from Trumpists and the anti establishment position of Sanders, any support from Obama (or Clinton) before the primaries end could hurt candidates more than help them.

Trump gets away with his bullshit because his supporters have the memory span of a walnut.

Years ago he had an interview saying "I have some of my people in Hawaii and you wouldn't believe what they're finding out about Obama." When the interviewer asked him "like what?" he said "you'll find out in a few weeks". Nothing.

"I'll release my tax returns after I get done being audited." That was almost 4 years ago...must be the longest audit in IRS history.

And when it came out that Melania came to the US on a non-working visa and promptly (and illegally) got a job he said "she'll be having a big news conference about that in a few weeks". Of course, she never did.

Now it's "just wait until you see what Giuliani is digging up about the Bidens and Ukraine". I hope the only thing Rudy is digging is Trump's grave.

I take back what I said about Trump supporters having the brains of a walnut...walnuts are far smarter.

Soeaking of digging up dirt, didn't Bloomberg say a while back that he had something on Sanders? Even if he does, how wise would it be to use it?

And what can we do to reconcile Sanders supporters with a Biden primary win? Some hard core ones are lost causes but can we get some of them to vote blue instead of giving in to anger and spite? Ir making a scene at the convention?

the GOP will resort back to the only playbook they have. Benghazi...Burisma...Bullshit.

But if Giuliani really had something on the Bidens it woulda come out long ago...the dude has been snooping around for many months if not a coupla years now. No way Trump risks letting Biden become the Democratic nominee if he had even a shred of hard evidence Joe was involved in something genuinely illegal.

Regardless, you can damn well expect an "October Surprise" of some sort. The Russians may have hacked into the Burisma email system...don't be shocked if they release some totally bogus internal corporate "documents" of how Hunter and his Pop were receiving a gabillion dollars worth of bribes. Courtesy of Trump's best buddy Putin.

and should be prepared to undercut them.

I just read at Daily Kos that Senator Ron Johnson is using his position as chair of the Homeland Security committee to launch new investigations of Hunter and Joe because he says Biden never answered questions adequately and Democratic voters should know the answers before choosing their candidate. He made the announcement as soon as the primary results came in and openly admits that is why.

I am not concerned that they would find anything. I am familiar with the smear tactic of "investigations." Aren't we all here at DU after the relentless investigations of both Clintons and Obama, plus numerous Dem candidates? The question is how it will play among other Dems and in the general. Are they aware enough not to fall for it? Are they eager enough to get rid of Trump to not care what he and his enabling investigators say?

Should they be answered or ignored? Ignoring swift boaters did not help Kerry. But Trump thrives on derailing people with a barrage of falsehoods to respond to. Most responses only generate more false claims.

Maybe this is something for Bloomberg to take on in ads since he slams Trump so well.

That's how you can tell that Biden was back on the upswing...when they dragged their Burisma bullshit out once again. Not a peep about it for many weeks when Joe was languishing.

Not sure what Hunter Biden or the Democrats should do about it. Maybe if the GOP calls in Biden's boy then the House can call in Donnie Junior again and see if he wants to admit to lying to Congress. And back and forth we go. Graham is part of this shit too...said Biden was a "good friend" and the most decent man God ever created but that won't stop him from crucifying the guy and do the bidding of his newfound beloved Fuhrer.

You're exactly right...it ain't about uncovering "corruption" that isn't there...merely the investigation itself and the taint it smears is the sole objective. The DOJ just got done with a 2 year investigation of Hillary over Uranium One...didn't uncover squadoosh but they had already moved on by then. They spent a year looking into the FBI's McCabe...and decided there was nothing to prosecute him over. They'll do the same thing with Hunter and Joe.

I dunno...I'm pretty sick of this Republican bullshit so I now just take a fatalistic attitude. If a majority of my fellow Americans are actually stupid enough or gullible enough or vindictive enough to keep falling for this crap over and over and over again then we are done for as a viable democratic nation and we collectively deserve whatever bad shit awaits us as a result.

Not ready to give up but I can't do it myself. We need more Americans to wake the hell up and do something about it. Step One being to get Trump the hell outta the White House and a bunch of his subservient Gopper goons outta the Senate.

people are coming together strongly with Biden in the desire to get rid if Trump. It should make them willing to ignore the RW attacks on Biden, or react strongly against them.

A few comments at Daily Kos suggested that Barr would start a Biden investigation and run it until election day. Others suggested, like me, that Bloomberg could take this on. Some feared that Barr would actually arrest Biden. I doubt that, but if it did happen, I think it would cause an uproar that would scare even Trump.

Meantime, I am thinking we just should use a variation of the Trump mantra, "Fake investigation."

And endlessly repeat lists of Trump corruption.

It's gonna be a bloody fight, but we need to stick it out to get the filth out of power and crush them.

If turnout is any indication people are getting off their asses and standing in lines for hours just to vote. So I take that as a good sign.

I guess my biggest concerns are domestic election fraud and foreign election interference. I just don't trust Republicans in some of these red states not to falsify vote tallies and I'm scared shitless the Russians will hack into some voting machines and change some numbers.

As we saw in 2016 it doesn't take many votes in a few states to change an election.

So if the vote tallies do not agree with the polling reports, at the polls, or with the number of registered voters, or with witness accounts of the number of people at voting sites, we don't let the media get away with saying, "Boy, did we get that wrong."

If voting sites are suddenly changed, close early, or intimidate minority voters, we don't just shrug it off or complain online. We march. We refuse to accept the results. We follow the lead of Puerto Rico and Hong Kong and stay with demands that the corrupt government resign.

With a large anti-Trump turnout at the polls, we should also have a large segment of the population refusing to accept or tolerate a corrupt outcome.

109. The worst possible outcome
Wed Mar 4, 2020, 06:48 PM
Mar 2020

woulda been for Sanders to have shown up at the convention with a slim plurality but still far away from the necessary delegates. In that case I'm pretty sure that the superdelegates woulda given it to whichever moderate/liberal was behind him.

Back in 2016 Hillary was within a whisker of having enough delegates to win it outright and yet Bernie's folks were outraged that she got most of the superdelegates to put her over the top. I can only imagine what woulda happened if the nightmare scenario I just described had been the case.

But at the moment it looks like we will avoid that crisis...thanks to God, or trees, or karma, or just plain pure dumb blind luck. Or perhaps Congressman Clyburn. I might end up building a makeshift shrine to that guy.

Win or Lose the primary (and I love both Biden and Sanders) Sanders will remain in the game to help foster progressive change in America. We need Sanders voice to drag the more moderate D to the left.

About 30% of the D primary voters won't tolerate old school policies like 'stop and frisk', 'marijuana is a gateway drug', kind of statements.

It is my hope Biden and Sanders meld policies together more and Biden never makes a divisive, dismissive OP like this.

edited in Bernies face because messageboard said" if primary is today who will you vote for" well Tx primary just happened, I voted with my heart. The same in 2016 I voted for Sanders & then for Clinton in the GE. I'll vote Biden if he wins this primary. no matter what. He could loose by a massive landslide and the Susan Sarandon / Ralph Nader wing of the party will always think the “establishment” robbed them. I fully expect these clowns to pul their antics at the convention. If Bernie is wondering why Democrats are rejecting him en mass, these people are the reason. Biden not only beat Bernie fair and square he did it without spending a dime. LOL!

Just ask him. He just can't believe that the majority of Democratic voters prefer the Democrat, Joe Biden.

Bernie blinked a couple of times, swallowed, and said, "He did?"
Oh dear!

I'm sure he doesn't have the time to personally follow the news as closely as we do. But you'd think that he would have hired a STAFF that's competent enough to keep up with things and let him know. Or, you'd think he'd be curious enough to ask.

Honestly, he's not exhibiting the qualities that I look for in a strong leader.

Also worth considering:
https://nevada-ent.com/throat/effects-of-medications-on-voice/

If only he'd go ahead and release his FULL medical records (as promised) instead of the "doctor's note" summary... then we wouldn't have to do our own research. What is he hiding? The voters deserve to know the truth. Good or bad, we need to know.

.....finding endless ways to disparage Bernie. Could have the effect of really, really turning off young voters---new to the party--- who liked and trusted Sanders.

Such gloats take the risk of suppressing the millennial vote because---their loyalty---regardless of how it's viewed here, mattered to them.

Do we want young voters out there switching to Biden and working for him or not?

does he ever do anything else? Seriously, today he seems like one more republican! He made the ad that looks like Obama endorsed him which Obama has not done! Someone today asked one of his campaign staff about it & he said that Obama did say those things & that, since he did, it was true.

It reminded me of when Romney's campaign made an ad where Obama said that if he didn't do something they would lose. Obama did say those things but he said them about McCain's campaign, it wasn't referencing his own campaign. When they asked the Romney campaign to remove the ad they refused. They said Obama did say those things & since he did, they refused to take it down.

Bernie's campaign today sounds just like that!
