Beto would be a great choice, but obviously I think the ticket should be balanced out with a woman on it, and preferably a woman of color. But who really fits that bill?

I like Kamala, but I'm not sure she would turn out the youth vote.

Lots of people like Abrams, but I'd have the same concerns about her.

Michelle Obama? But of course she most likely wants to stay far away from politics.

AOC (not my cup of tea, really), but I believe she is too young.

I can't think of many people that would fit that criteria...

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I don’t think it’s going to happen because it’ll, unfortunately, need a white guy to even be remotely successful

You do not in any circumstances pick a VP with a favorability rating of 30%, and a net rating of -17%

She isn't liked outside progressive Democrats

While i like her youth, her intelligence & spunkiness, she comes across as arrogant & disrespectful, and her caustic demeanor is very off-putting. We do not need that in our party.

so I think it's a lost cause targeting them. We need a younger VP for sure, but not to get the youth vote.

Which is why Dean suggests putting a young woman of color on the ticket so it will actually look a bit more like the actual Democratic Party across the country.

especially after last night when he won Texas with a little help from Beto!

As for Kamala, who would she bring that isn't already lined up? And after her memorable exchange with Joe last summer, putting her on the ticket would give many pause. Beto on the other hand wouldn't alienate any constituencies.

Where he is right :

Yes, the best chance to energize the young to get out and vote is to nominate for VP, a young person. And I've been consistent in saying that it would ideally be a person who is

Young
Female
POC

And I am also consistent in believing that it will be Stacey Abrams. She would electrify the General.#

Where he is wrong :

It would be a massive mistake to depend on the youth vote. It's the unicorn over the rainbow that Dems always think they can mobilise, a bit like expecting Texas to turn blue. Work on what it possible. Moderate Republicans who are disgusted by Trump, and right leaning Independents are desperate to vote (and they DO vote) Trump out. Make it easy for THEM to vote for a Democratic nominee.
