Let's be clear about the super delegates and 2016. If Bernie Sanders had won the pledged delegates
he absolutely would have won the nomination. Period.
Any super delegates supporting Hillary would have gone over to him, just like they did for Obama in 2008.
The concept that pledged delegates are like electoral votes, and if you get one more than your opponent then you are the rightful nominee, was established in 2008 to deny Hillary Clinton the nomination. Heading into that race it was considered reasonable to mention other metrics for declaring yourself the people's choice, like the popular vote, or arguing for all SDs to vote for the candidate who won their state. That all ended in 2008 with Hillary on the losing side.
For the record, she is the LAST candidate who the super delegates would have ever handed the nomination to. It is just easy to unfairly portray her that way because her husband was once president, and so supposedly that means that she has all sorts of power and establishment support. In other words, she is a sugar baby.
When people claim that the DNC or SDs were in the tank for Hillary Clinton they are really just calling her a sugar baby.
