What happened on Bernie's 2016 turf?

Sanders lost many of the counties he won in 2016.
Sanders held on to less than half of the 261 counties he carried in 2016. And even in those, he got a lower share of the vote. These counties were predominantly from Colorado, Utah, California, and Vermont.
