Sanders's California lead down to 7.4% and shrinking.

Bernie's lead is down to 7.4% in California and it seems likely to shrink further.
Ballots since Weds. are just Sanders+1.6, v. Sanders+8.4 in the initial count on Weds in those same counties

5. He needed (and was expecting) a blowout win in California. This "win" is actually a loss.

He needed (and was expecting) a blowout win in California. This "win" is actually a loss. And looking forward, he would need to win-big in the "big ticket" high-stakes states if he expected to even have a chance at denying Biden the majority.

He's maxed out his far-left support (close to 30%) and if he can't convince moderate Democrats to support him in greater numbers, there's NO WAY he'd have ever been able to get enough support in the General Election.

but then I remember that Biden was part of the team that bailed out the auto industry. That's a big card for Joe.

I'm looking at a Vox article from 3/9/16 discussing it. Bernie certainly supports the auto industry, and their unions, but he voted against a hunk of money that was ultimately used for the auto bailout.

which are going >65% for Biden. One million votes still remain to be counted and Sanders' lead will be reduced to at most 4-5%.

7. That could result in a split of 40-20 of those remaining, cutting the overall lead to a dozen or so.

There is also a 1% chance that Biden may actually win California. The voters who waited till the last day, didn't mail in their ballots and hand-delivered them to a polling station did it for a reason.
