Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumJoe Biden's not being a programmed and expert candidate re: oratory May be working for him
First, Ive watched Joe for many many years. I know he had his issues making headway in more genteel times when he was accused of plagiarism.
But that seems so quaint now.
During all of those years in the Senate he has been truly liked by both Dems and Repub. He comes across as a decent person who know how to steer through tough issues that come up every day in politics and leadership.
He may spit things out incorrectly or get the specifics of a past event a little wrong, but people are rooting him on.
It would s still amazing to me what he pulled off after arriving at South Carolina with only fumes in the tank. Now he has flipped the story and a broad cross section of America feels comfortable about him.
A lot of working class white and working class black voters are put off by the highly perfect and programmed messaging from other candidates. They are looking for a safe harbor in the storms whipping around them.
Joe feels wholesome, what people think America has stood for these many decades. He doesnt run around calling people losers and snakes. He says lets unite as a party and a country and fight for the soul of this country.

(1,656 posts)I want him to winI was just throwing out there some of the previous things which tripped him up in the last. Those should all be meaningless and his election cycle. I am sure if you sent a poll out today with a question: who do you feel most comfortable with, Biden, Sanders, TrumpBiden would get the majority.
I had been rooting for Biden for some time on the sidelines and felt I might start having to look at new candidate choose for California primary when he didnt win in Iowa, New Hampshire or Nevada.
When he DESTROYED the field in South Carolina, I knew this was a new race.

(43,161 posts)but we don't need to air old negatives to remind people. It's what they did to HRC in 2016 to create this uneasy feeling, that something was off, she wasn't quite right .... it was a kind of gaslighting without appearing to be gaslighting. let's not let it happen to our candidate again in 2020.

(1,656 posts)Unleash a barrage of everything they can think of to create a cavalcade if things....but since anything they can come up with is a rehash it will not resonate with many Americans (including many Republicans and Independents) is ho are tired of the shit show and want some human decency back at the top.

(5,557 posts)His phrasing seems strange at times as he is working around words he feels will trip him up. It's pretty remarkable to see in action once you understand his challenge.

(14,014 posts)as fervent young Bernie supporters hint, very boomer of us, but that is the honest feeling after over four years of watching Trump,
McConnell and the Repub minions systematically dissect our democracy.
Million of voters see it that same way.
Biden may seem like safe harbor, but we NEED safe harbor first, before we rebuild the boat.
