Would have needed at least 150,000 voters to change their mind.

Further, a large percentage of votes cast in Ca are mail in votes, which is why they are still counting. So probably a lot of those votes were mailed in before the Super Tuesday elections.

ELECTION 2020 BY BEN CHRISTOPHER PUBLISHED: MARCH 5, 2020
Far from over: California still has more than 3.5 million ballots to count
But this afternoon state officials published their first estimate of how many ballots are left to be counted.

In a state that holds an “election month, not election day” — where results will trickle in for weeks to come, sometimes flipping the outcomes of tight elections in the process — this is an election nerd’s landmark. It also gives us a few more clues about the final shape of California’s various primary contests.

According to estimates published by county election registrars, as of Thursday night, there are 3.5 million ballots left to count. (The Secretary of State’s office showed a count of about 3.3 million, but that did not include the latest updated numbers from Los Angeles County.)
https://calmatters.org/blogs/california-election-2020/2020/03/california-ballot-counting-delay-millions-to-count/

Yes she could have done it anytime after she dropped out in late 2019, but Biden's viabilty was not at all certain until after Super Tuesday.

Flexibility and not operating as if one knows all the answers is a strength that reflects a rejection of privilege. The culture of South Carolina is extremely hierarchical and expertise of elected officials is interpreted as a positive. If Clyburn embraces his privilege, that is certainly his right and he has earned it.
Not everyone would want to or can live in that world. As someone who lives on the margins of the mainstream, I am glad that there are people and places who do respect those of us who are not as privileged.

even in the primary. We hosted Harris texting parties at our house, then turned to Warren. I seem to remember my daughter saying that Harris' husband appeared to be a Warren fan (on Twitter or something). Maybe Harris stayed out of it so as not to hurt either one. I assume she personally preferred Warren, and there has been a lot of talk about Harris as Biden's veep, so if she actually wants to be veep, not endorsing Biden before Warren withdrew is a sign of integrity (as opposed to pandering). Some Biden supporters (I am now an extremely disappointed and reluctant supporter of Biden in the primary, but will enthusiastically support him against the MAGAt King) are starting to impose the same purity tests and bullying behavior online that Warren supporters previously experienced from some Berners. Like, if we don't immediately feel the joy of "ride'n with Biden" we must support putting babies in cages. (I saw that on Talking Points Memo). From the other side, we're accused of wanting to kill sick people. I will do what I can to get Biden elected in the general and I understand how we got here, but I'm not happy that two women I consider way more qualified than either remaining old white guy are out, and that I may never see a woman president in my lifetime. I don't have to be won over to Team Biden (I'm already there), but for others, graciousness (as you put it) about former candidates they may have preferred is a more winning strategy. (Also, we're not MAGAts; I now have to accept a candidate I find very flawed-- but less flawed than the remaining "Democrat" and infinitely more qualified than the White House squatter-- and I will shut up and do it for the greater good, but I am not capable of abandoning all critical thinking in the process.)

Biden Unbound: Lays Into Clinton, Obama, Edwards

https://observer.com/2007/02/biden-unbound-lays-into-clinton-obama-edwards/

Mr. Biden is equally skeptical—albeit in a slightly more backhanded way—about Mr. Obama. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

Biden's Launch Pad Disaster

https://web.archive.org/web/20070208030943/http://news.yahoo.com/s/realclearpolitics/20070131/cm_rcp/bidens_launch_pad_disaster

Senator Biden's official entrance into the 2008 contest is not getting off to an auspicious start. Matt Drudge smacked him hard with this brickbat:

SEN. BIDEN SHOCK INTERVIEW: 'I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy'...

But of more concern to Biden's hopes for success in the Democratic field are these comments from some of the most powerful bloggers on the left.

Josh Marshall:

At this point you have to say that Biden suffers from what one might with real generosity call chronic racial grandpaism. That is to say, the penchant for making comments that are not only racially offensive but also extremely silly and the sort of things that are sometimes excused or at least passed over from men, say, over 80 on the reasoning that they're from a different era and why get into it. Actually, the clock has probably even run out on that excuse when you figure that a man who is 80 today was forty in 1966. But however that may be, excuses that fly in the retirement community or family reunions just doesn't cut it in a man who aspires to the presidency...... Biden's mouth presents a clear and present danger to Democratic electoral prospects no matter what he meant. Ending his candidacy wouldn't be preemption, just legitimate self-defense.

They are both letting this process play out in quite an organic way, compared to the calculations and back room deals that run the other party.

Joe needs to be able to find his best fit, and his short list candidates (of which I’m certain Kamala is one) need to feel that they can be supportive to his administration.

Shoulda woulda coulda... it’s an entirely different ballgame now.
