When Beau became ill and Biden started to say that he was going to sell his house in Delaware to get money to pay for Beau's cancer treatment, this is what Pres. Obama said to him:

"Don't sell the house. You love that house. I'll give you the money."

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

We admire and respect Kamala Harris, and to a lesser extent, Corey Booker, but this wasn't their time. We have to get back to normal first, and they're both young enough to pick up the mantle in 4 to 8 years.

Ms. Goff took the words right out of my mouth. She's my hero.

...let Biden get everything back to baseline, and then let Harris/Booker/Pete/Amy/(Future Dem Here) take over from there and push this thing forward.

He walks the walk, and walks his talk. Hard to ask more of any elected official who says they are FOR those they represent.

11. In case anyone's tempted to see black people as a monolith... From two of my black FB friends:
Mon Mar 9, 2020, 11:50 AM

They were both speaking directly to me in conversation about this letter and my own comments.

The male (college educated poet, writer, community organizer) --

"I certainly believe in people having opportunities to change their thinking and redeem themselves.
Nothing about present day me is possible without that.
But to show up and do your job (not undermine the president) when you’re the Vice President, when you yourself have failed in several Presidential bids, is a reaaaaal low bar to talk about allyship from...

... and understand I’m saying this just as it’s coming clear to me that if he continues on to be the nominee, I will vote for him. Your argument about who comes with the president is a strong enough one for me."

The female (college educated, bilingual, certified chef) :
"... thank the Organizer Gods that she and I even have the RIGHT to vote!
I as a Black woman am voting for Bernie.
Biden's children and I were around the same age when he was worried about the orderliness of integration "not only in busing but all society" and his children growing up in "a racial jungle"
... So let me just say that "The Black voter that votes for Biden" does not speak for me or mine...
No Black politician would get Kudos for doing his job and "playing second fiddle" to a white politician so that argument does not convince me...."

12. Yet ANOTHER reason why I am looking to black voices, black leadership, right now...
Mon Mar 9, 2020, 11:54 AM
Mar 2020

...this old white lady is painfully aware of the blind spots ground into my worldview by decades of living with privilege and the default assumptions of a racist culture.

But there are none so blind as those who will not see.

When thoughtful black people offer me their lens to look through, I am grateful.

And in turn, thoughtful.

There is so, so much I don't know about living as an American who isn't white.

There are so, so many Americans who aren't white.

And this country will ONLY survive and thrive if it keeps moving toward being a place where ALL those experiences matter and all our leaders and people work to deliver the promises of our Constitution to EVERYONE.

Thank you.

appreciatively,
Bright
