Why Bernie's attacks on the Democratic "establishment" are backfiring

Bernie has, in effect, equated the Democratic "establishment" with Democrats with experience. But when the ship of state is capsizing, people want a group of experienced hands to come on board, not revolutionaries who have never steered a ship, let alone dealt with one that is taking on water. Between Biden and Bernie, when it comes to staffing the government, it's no contest. People are tired of a government run by inexperienced, poorly vetted people. Veterans of the Obama era -- the "establishment" -- are likely to be asked and will answer the call if Biden wants them as part of his team. If Bernie shuts out the establishment, where does he find people to run things who have any idea as to what that involves?

Some of Bernie's campaign picks have been very alarming. I can't imagine how he'd begin to staff his administration.

... we'll demonstrate the effect of the strong leftward pull this primary season has shown and will implement some really important steps forward. In other words, I, who appreciate and am a part of "the establishment," want the establishment to show some good results.
