If the two are to debate Sunday, it needs to be about one issue and one issue only...

It should be an informal sit down with the American people to talk about how we, as a nation, can safely handle the mess that is happening in our country with Trump's overall inept crisis leadership. It should be focused on calming Americans, working together and offering solutions.

This is a tipping point moment. We clearly are not going to get leadership from our president. These two candidates should take this debate's opportunity to focus on this devastating issue and the solutions needed to combat it.

Americans are yelling out for leadership. Bernie and Biden have a mass-audience Sunday to offer up that leadership, while also firming up unity within the party.

1. I agree. This is not time to have our two top candidates fighting each other.

2. OK - but consider the Coronavirus issue?

Aren't Biden and Sanders likely to have different solutions. One believes that our current health care system is sufficient with a few tweaks, and the other would like to see for profit insurance taken out of the mix or at least better alternatives available - how would they discuss that issue without their differences coming to the fore front?

I have no doubt that both Sanders and Biden will point out how Trump is bungling this, but their own responses wouldn't be on the same page, necessarily.

4. I would assume both have the same solutions at this time.

We're not going to reform the healthcare system in 24 hours. What Bernie thinks about Medicare for All right now has zero impact on how we're going to respond to this crisis. We're basically stuck with the system we have to fight this.

So, what can we do as a nation, as a people, to make sure this doesn't continue to spread?

Both can talk about the need to make sure if you're sick, even if you're not high risk, you do not continue to infect others.

They should admonish Trump on his handling.

And bring their suggestions on how they'd handle this crisis if, tomorrow, they suddenly were president.

Sorry, but I don't think Medicare for All is the answer to that question - it might be a solution Bernie can discuss about making sure it doesn't happen again ... but not how to fix this current issue.

5. Fixing this problem while leaving ourselves vulnerable to future problems

is not necessarily an ideal situation. One of the issues is that people who get sick are going to make judgement calls about going to get checked out. If they are going to see their insurance rates spike or lose work they need to feed their kids, than those judgement calls might not be the best.

While they might agree on the solution to the current problem, they don't agree on the long term solution to minimize these kinds of illnesses in the future.

6. Focusing on what you're going to do after problem, instead of how to fix the problem, is reckless

Sunday should be about how we respond and how we fix the problem. If it's not, the debate should be canceled.

8. They could focus on both

Certainly if they only focus on the short term, than I doubt there would be much of a disagreement or much of an opportunity for Sanders to present his case as to why he should receive the nomination rather than Biden. Which, I suppose, if you you support Biden works out pretty good.

7. The only system we have to deal with the CV is the current system.

Let Sanders suggest that we need to wait years if not decades to somehow get his MFA passed before we deal with this virus.

The discussion that needs to be had by these two is a full frontal assault on tRump’s entire “fake everything” bs. They need to point out that it’s tRump’s dismissal of facts and science that led him to so bungle the response to CV.

who lives and dies because their system is now overwhelmed. Government run systems...always have a rationing aspect...older voters are being sacrificed for the greater good I suppose. And the UK is already discussing plans to ration care...

10. I'm not sure what your point is here ?

Health care will be rationed in one regards or another - either through the government diliniated system of the NHS or Italian systems or through the "You pay or you walk" system we have here in the United States. There should be better medium than the one we have now - Single Payer is my preferred option, but I'm open to others.

3. Absolutely no more attacks, no more shouting or finger-wagging.

A calm, reasoned explanation on what medical experts say is the best advice--advice based on science--to meet this threat, and then in a more general way what we'll need to do to minimize the damage caused by this utterly corrupt and inept president and his gutless enablers in the Senate.

And at the end: a formal announcement by Senator Sanders endorsing Vice President Biden, followed by a call for all patriotic citizens to come together to remove Trump and his henchmen from office.

A debate resembling what we've seen up to now will only lesson the public's confidence even more, and do damage to our nominee.
